Indian variant is apparently rampant but cases and deaths remain the same.
It's quite simpleFucks sake I'm sure it's never going to end this nightmare because they don't want it to. How do they know what will happen in a month?

Likelihood of full lockdown restrictions ending on June 21 'close to nil' | ITV News
'Not everything we've set out for 21 June is likely to happen,' a government adviser has told ITV News Political Editor Robert Peston. | ITV National Newswww.itv.com
It's quite simple
Some politicians and scientists never want this to end. Personally if they inflict more misery they should fully expect riots and some disorder in the coming months.
People have had enough.
Yep and don't get me going about SAGE, think their an absolute disgrace to be honest.I'm starting to come to this conclusion. We will never have zero deaths or hospitalisations from covid, whatever strain, just the same as we don't from any other illness. Aside from brief periods we have all as good as been home imprisoned for 14 months. Most have complied, had two jabs, we can do no more. Open up, those who don't want to take the chance stay at home.
Correct me if im wrong, but im sure I heard in the news that all of the 19people recently admitted to hospital in Bolton and Darwin with indian variant covid were all eligible for the vaccine but had chosen not to have it. If this is true then surely it should be part of the headline news, not a footnote in it.
Perhaps if you decline the offer of a vaccine you should be made to have medical insurance to cover any care you may need if you catch covid. At least then I wont have to pay for these ignorant peoples stupidity.
Personally I’d go a step further and put them right to the back of the queue should they need treatment. Behind, say, people who’ve been waiting a year for cancer treatment etc.
They don't know and I suspect that is what is behind that story. I reckon the govt will be regretting coming up with these dates at 5 week intervals although tbf they did stress data not dates at the time but the dates made better news. The mood music now is definite expectation management - much easier to keep expectations low then hopefully exceed them.
Yep, even if all goes to plan its likely there will be some reversal required due to localised outbreaks or an upturn in cases as the autumn coughs and colds season kicks in. I suppose BJ will shag someone or declare war on France as a distraction though.Nothing wrong with the 5 week intervals in my opinion - gives you time to assess and understand the trends and the data - the biggest problem has been Johnsons insistence all along that the plan was "irreversible". Made themselves a hostage to fortune with that one word because right from the start expectations were set.
What do you mean when you say that should be taken into account? The two things are massively different ( unless there is a vaccine that cures cancer that I am unaware of ) but I do understand the sentiment. For me everyone who gets a phone call or a text inviting them to get a vaccine who declines should have it noted on their medical records then if they do fall ill and need hospital treatment those records should be checked.
If intensive care is quiet then ok but if its being overrun that in part would be down to the actions - or indeed inactions - of folk who declined the vaccine and that should be taken into account when decisions are made.
To back that up, just caught part of some woman from Sage on GMB just then who was ranting about how the government shouldn’t have relaxed the restrictions yesterday due to the Indian variant. I mean come on, that’s just ridiculous at this stage. She was a disgrace the way she spoke.Yep and don't get me going about SAGE, think their an absolute disgrace to be honest.
This is their once in a lifetime opportunity to wield power and instil fear into people and they simply don't want to relinquish it.
That's the truth.
I get that sentiment, but have to take into account that to a certain degree he is attempting to speak to people, like me, who will have had both jabs. Assuming boosters top us up etc as we move forward then as in theory I shouldn’t get particularly ill even if I get covid then we have to be trying to get the country moving again. I think that “irreversible” was aimed at that.Nothing wrong with the 5 week intervals in my opinion - gives you time to assess and understand the trends and the data - the biggest problem has been Johnsons insistence all along that the plan was "irreversible". Some of them were on protests on Saturday for a lockdown that was being lifted on Monday!Fucking hell - reading the last few pages, it seems this thread has been invaded by a load of Ian Browns. People need to stop flapping. There may be a delay in the lifting of restrictions on June 21st but that doesn’t mean to say we’re going back into lockdown for fuck’s sake. More restrictions were lifted yesterday and pretty much everything is back open now. You can go for a pint indoors and outdoors. You can go for a meal at your favourite restaurant. Indoors. Football clubs have welcomed fans back, albeit with a reduced capacity, but it’s a start and the numbers will be increased over time. Same with rugby league and horse racing yesterday. Over 20,000 fans were allowed inside Wembley on Saturday for the FA Cup final. Thousands of City fans have booked flights to Portugal and accommodation for the Champions League final the weekend after next. This country now has more things open than pretty much any other country in Europe yet despite all that there are people out there who actually think we’re going to be locked down again. Jesus wept!
