If all section are to get a chance of a ticket why not allocate a certain % over all points allocation for a ballot say
20k + points get 25% of allocation
16-20 get 20%
13-16 get 15% etc etc all the way down with 1k -5k getting 5%.
Not ideal and won’t suit everyone but possibly it’d work

You are right, and this is more about away games in general rather than this particular match.

Why is it that this season we've had 18,000 tickets spread across 3 matches, and there are plenty of people who have tickets for all 3 matches? We were told before the Newcastle ballot at Christmas, that if you got a ticket for that match, you would not qualify again until all season ticket holders had been given a chance to go. That principle was never even mentioned this time around.

It won't change unless people vote with their feet.

If everyone quit the Platinum and cup schemes, they'll start asking fans why, the answer will be, "because for 20+ years you've given tickets to the same people and we've no chance of ever getting tickets for away matches" - that's what I'm doing going forward. I'll renew my season ticket as gold and not go to anymore cup matches.

Just had a great bit of news. I'm not going to go into the details, but most of the people who are fretting about not having enough points to get a ticket should be okay. I have fewer points on my card than any of you. I have been advised that I should easily get a ticket tomorrow.

I got my ticket on Thursday morning and flight details only came through last night so don't panic. Check your spam folder they see to land there!

Got mine late last night after booking in the 9am window (flight 9). They come from a 3rd party so I think a City must be sending the details over as people book and then they fill the flights and contact you.

Agreed that would work but as people move up the bands you can imagine the uproar and demand for additional allocations and brackets.
As mentioned, this is a case with no perfect solution.

I'm afraid this ships sailed. The error was in starting from scratch when we moved. My 'loyalty' over 30 odd years was erased in favour of one were it could be bought for £50. At that point we should have said it wasn't on, not just refused to join on principal as I did.
We can't now erase those accumulated/bought points, that wouldn't be fair either, but allowing it to continue is unfair.
I'll never catch up at 65 but it will give young blues a chance. Time for change but I doubt it will.
