Then getting the televised presentation of some 'Wall Of Champions' poster to a decent enough squad player who will be transferred/leave on a free.
Imagine if this was done for every such instance?
Really scraping the barrel to remain relevant this year.

I saw a still image of that, was it a plaque of liverpools club achievements rather than wijnaldums? What a properly weird thing to do.

Strange thing to do.

Could have just given him a plaque with the four major trophies he had won at the club and individual things like number of appearances, motm awards etc.

Does it say champions at the top?

It’s like someone has forgotten to get him a proper gift so they had a whip round the canteen staff 10 mins before the game and grabbed something that was under a tenner from the dipper gift shop.

Not quite true. Might be that at Barca, but look at his league appearances. 30+ each season since he joined Newcastle.

Think they might struggle to replace the energy he brought to their side.

This is absolutely spot on. Its honestly like a clearance bin left over. If you are going to honour a player with all the fanfare they did for him the very least you can do is get them a fucking unique gift. That's definitely being "accidentally" left in his apartment when he moves.

City lost Kompany after he’s rocketed City to the title the season before with an all-time great goal, and had to play midfielders in defence for an entire season:
finished 2nd on 81 Points, 17 points fewer than the season before
and won the EFL Cup and Community Shield

Liverpool lost van Dijk half way through the season, after he’d played in a 7-2 mauling at Aston Villa, and they had to play midfielders in defence for a bit:
finished 3rd on 69 Points, 26 points fewer than the season before, in a season where the title was won on just 86 Points
and won no trophies, not even the Community Shield
 
What an incredible achievement to finish 4 th , 30 points fewer than the previous season, yet still get all the headlines on the final day.

Only scousers can do that.
 
Everyone should make it their business to go over to Rawk. It is a bastion of stupidity and lack of self awareness.
These 2 particularly caught my attention
1) After a long rant, he describes this final as the most "tainted" and an " embarrassment to UEFA"

2) Another finishes his rant with a sarcastic" now go and enjoy your final of a competition that you were kicked out of for cheating "
Obviously the media sports washing by dipper sycophants has airbrushed the 85 final out of the public consciousness
If you want to make yourself feel good , read a few pages. You know how much this match is hurting them

Wonder how many would have been over the moon at a 3rd place finish at the start of the season ???? Wasn’t this supposed to be a new era in domination of English football ?????
Nothing like that and had the likes of West Ham and Leicester not bottled it when it mattered then the tools wouldn’t even be in
