Congrats to Chelsea, they played better on the night. Just disappointed that we chaged things again from what we normally play. Ferna or Rodri don't just give us defensive cover but they provide the focal point for setting up our rhythm. Too many of our players just didn't get going tonight and I think that's a huge part of it.

His domestic record and coaching ability is fantastic, his record in Europe with us is dogshit, for a genius he is pretty fucking good at getting beat by inferior teams and managers. I thought Lyon was a turning point especially with how organised we have looked this year.

We do, more so than Kane, Haaland would give us other options, Kane would replicate what we already have to some extent.

Think this is the big thing. Some credit has to go to the opponents but it was the manner of defeat. Just so limp and ultimately lacking in real belief. Can't pin all that on the lineup imo, it wasn't exactly a total overhaul although it's easy with hindsight just to say in a high pressure situation don't add to that by changing what is comfortably your most settled side.
Any loss is disappointing but failing to do themselves justice will eat at the players for a while. What a letdown.

People blaming the players don't know the psychological effect of Pep sudden formation changes on them. They saw it many times in many CL compaigns and it made them lose every time. There is something motivating about the manager picking the usual formation and telling his players to be brave and play their normal game. There is also the effect of players adapting to new formations and positions in a high stake game. I like Pep but he'll never win the CL again without the supernatural Messi to get him out of his occasional brain farts formations.

Sterling has been out of form for over a year. Our system relys on a defensive midfielderike Fernandinho.
