The players didn't perform because the system didn't suit them.

Pep is only human after all but to say its not on him is blinded truth .
 
Gutted. Been saying all week to people that I can take losing a one-off match against a very good team but there’s an acceptable way to lose and tonight just wasn’t that. We simply didn’t play with the plan, endeavour and personality that we’ve produced for 95% of the season.

One change but it created a team that felt like it had half a dozen changes because of its impact. Gutted.

It will be interesting to hear Pep’s thoughts because 99% of our support won’t understand his logic tonight, nor tomorrow.

Hurts like fuck but we are well equipped to bounce back. CTID

I think the problem.. was the set up mate... it was apparent all game. That is why people are annoyed. Either Fern or Rodri start.. different game. Pep to blame here.
 
Very few teams win it first time around. This was a huge step forward for the club versus our previous best when Pellegrini never laid a glove on Real Madrid. It’s all part of the process.

As an aside, fireworks around my neck of the woods. Plenty of chat gardens with Liverpool flags on poles. We get under their skin. We go again.
 
Tonight was disappointing but if someone said to me City will be in the Chumps League final 20 years ago I would not have believed them. City are a very well run club with exciting youth players coming through. Tonight is hard to take but we have come a long way and the future is bright...if we keep going in the same direction our time will come...

So, why did we lose and where did it go wrong? Player mentality and Pep. One plays into the other. They say shit rolls down hill, so does confidence. Many players would of seen that starting 11 tonight and lost confidence, that is where it went wrong. The players internally would of questioned the managers decisions like many fans and that is what we seen play out on the pitch, lack of confidence and uncertainty.

God I hate this small club mentality some supporters still have.

a) Fuck the rags. What do they have to do with anything? Bringing them into the conversation only lowers us
b) We've had billions invested in us. More than any other club
c) We aren't wee little City anymore
d) Chelsea happened to win their first EVER CL final too. Against all the odds

We're a fucking big club now. Let's act like it.
 
Surprised no one is having a pop at Ederson for the goal. No need to come charging out so far, come out by all means and narrow the angle but make him shoot and beat you, make it harder for Havertz instead of handing an open goal on a plate. Havertz is not a great finisher but Ederson made that too easy for him. Dog shit against Lyon last year and not great tonight in another huge match.

I doubt I’ll be saying anything that’s not been said. But strangely I am not half as arsed as I usually would be. 9 times out of 10 we lose as the better team. Today we weren’t and got what we deserved. It’s on Pep, as much we love him, but we go again. We will win it one day. I’m gutted but we play shit and change our full proof game plan on the most important game of our season? Get what we deserve. We go again

Agree completely. If wed have started the 11 everyone expected and chelsea won then i would have no questions or doubts about what could,have done differently.
but now all you can thunk is what if.....
