The selection was unfathomable and the positioning of Foden incredulous. That said, not one player was at it tonight which is seriously concerning given the amount of time to prepare, and the enormous backroom assistance there is for every player. Not simply all Pep's fault.

I was livid after the FA Cup, tonight we didn't play very well and lost to a breakaway goal. Shit happens. Same as in the FA Cup but at least tonight we had the chance to play the players we wanted to rather than whoever was fit after the game a few days previously.

Both games lost to Sunday league pub defending, criminal really at this level

Yes, quality players should adapt, but up against other quality players - Kante in particular - the margin is gonna be tight. They ended up with 8 players on the pitch with a defensive/controlling job partly coz they were seeing out the game and partly coz we looked better when de Bruyne went off as everyone looked more assured in their role so they had to tighten even more. But still as you say, an average game against a well drilled team.

Said all season, game changer for us is buying a goal machine, someone for the genius of kev to hit every time, then we'll be complete, to be honest we never looked like scoring tonight, big games you need top quality finisher, for me it's balls out this summer for Kane.
