Erling Haaland

I don’t think we will pay anywhere near £100 million for any player. Those pre-covid money spend times are gone.
I think the club will pay what it takes, to get a striker that is the right fit for the club. I think if you listen Khaldoon's words, he says there will not be many incoming, but we can compete in the market, and I don't feel we will go cheap, to replace someone he believes has been the best striker in the EPL.

I think Haaland being sold may depend on the likelihood of a Sancho transfer. I doubt they will want to let both go, but if there are no suitors for Sancho, I believe we will be in prime position.

I also don't get this Munich talk on here, we know they are cheapskates, so I doubt they will want to pay a transfer fee of the size of next years clause, and I don't think they will pay the wages needed. I also think Alfie wants him to move to another league, so I think he will go to the EPL or La Liga.

I personally can't see RM being an option either, Lal Liga is skint, and I feel his team and him will look at who is dominating European football at the moment, which is clearly the EPL teams.

I think the main obstacles to us for his signature will be Chelski, or whether the club prefer to go down the Kane path of a proven EPL goal scorer.

Bayern literally paid €80 million for Lucas Hernandez. They also paid €40 million for Javi Martinez which was considered huge at that time. They will do it from time to time.

I understand, but like us they don't usually go into auctions with other sides, which is what it will be next year. I do feel his wage demands, plus the fact that Alfie has voiced his desire to test Erling in the EPL, will be the biggest stumbling blocks for Munich, I just can see him staying in Germany.

Enlighten me then.

Just because we lose out to other sides, doesn't mean we don't go in at all. We have been in for plenty of players, that ended up at other clubs over a little bit more money.

Probably right about Bayern, moreso than us, but I don't follw their activity enough to know.

What I am saying, is that from what I have seen about most of our transfers we have a price limit, if someone goes over that, we usually walk away from the deal ala Hazard and Sanchez. I am not saying we are the only team vying for certain players, I've just not seen us get into a bidding war with another team.

There has to be a price limit, fools are parted with their money, our club will always pay a fair and honest price but will no longer have our pants pulled down, they learnt their lesson quickly about that.

Just look at the mess the rags and Barca are in, they are clubs that in recent times have payed way above market prices and wages for players.

There is no doubt to me IF a high quality or even generational talent comes to market, we will be at the front of the que in both transfer fee and wages.

I would imagine the club would very much want the next Ronaldo or Messi to be at the club.

Fair enough, yeah that seems to be the case, the club will determine a value and if the price is pushed beyond that, either by selling club or other club's interest etc, they will walk away.

Doesn't mean we won't bid for Haaland just because other clubs may be at it too, which i guess isn't what you were saying anyway.

What I noticed in the CL final was the physicality of Chelsea..Pep will always go for more speedy ,nimble, skillful players, as that is his modus operandi, and frankly it has served us well.. equally Pep is not stupid, he has changed the team dynamic and strenghtened the defence appropriately..When I watched the final I compared City to the great Holland team of the 70s..got to world cup finals ,beautiful football, but never quite made it.
I will never purport to know better than Pep, but as this is a forum where we express opinions, I would say that Haaland would give so much more to this team, simply looking at age, physicality,injuries..probably equally with Kane, natural goal scorers. For the same price, Haaland for me, but will not cry if we get Harry.

Does anybody has any idea ITK or not , what happened here. From daily rumours about him wanting to come to us, the exchange between him and Foden to suddenly not a whisper.

It is very interesting and I am for once, very curious to know

I too think and hope that we will go for Haaland, but I also feel there may have been enough groundwork done prior to any bid, to ensure that we are his club of choice.

It certainly appears now, that City would be the team of choice for any player truly chasing honours and awards, rather than just the high money. We always had to pay a premium in the early tenure of Mansour, because we were just a project back then, and really couldn't compete with some of the other teams in Europe, but now, there are not many teams out there that can compete with our trophy cabinet consistently.

With us back in good books with Uefa not an issue paying 100 million plus for Haalnd at all. Long term deal. We will also off load a couple. Two world class coming in. 4 to leave at least. For me Haaland over kane all day long. Kane is awesome don’t get me wrong. Issue is age and injury prone. I won’t complain at all over Kane.
Just prefer the lad Haaland. Potential ballon dor player

The rumours were nonsubstantial noise. Maybe a nugget of true suggestion, but mostly self propelling echo waves.

They have been replaced by the same type of noise on Kane now. Till something else changes again.

Can look at it two ways.

1) Haaland got sick of all the press and circus around any move and shut it all down, he has made his decision and thats it, the clubs will do a deal and its done. No need for the the tour around Europe.

2) Haaland is staying, Raiola and his dad feel another 12mths at Dortmund is better for him and next summer Dortmund get 70 odd mil and Raiola and the Haaland family pocket the rest.
