The Portugal decision is baffling.
they are suggesting that people who went there for the match should now self isolate even though it was green. It becomes amber on Tuesday. I can still go and get a flight for this weekend and come back Monday and not have to isolate. If it's so bad the fans are being asked to isolate then it should immediately go to amber. Any logic from the govt that remained has crashed and burned this afternoon.

PORTUGAL was today relegated to Britain's amber list after ministers sounded the alarm about a worrying new "Nepal mutation" of the Indian variant detected in the holiday hotspot.

Transport Secretary Grant Shapps this afternoon sent thousands of travel plans up in smoke by advising Brits NOT to go to the popular destination - and making returning passengers self-isolate from 4am next Tuesday.

Seven countries are also being added to the red list from the amber list. They are: Afghanistan, Bahrain, Costa Rica, Egypt, Sudan, Trinidad and Tobago, and Sri Lanka.

What happened to the one weeks notice?

Will they finally, fucking finally, support the industry after repeatedly throwing us under a bus for over a year.

They have effectively banned international leisure travel, without actually banning it, so they don't have to help us.

Still in Portugal till Wednesday just booked another game of golf to compound my misery . Twats could of waited till Thursday
 
It’s a joke, just like all those isolating who went to the match, they’ve been out and about for 4/5 days now, so they could’ve spread it, the whole travel industry could go under, no one is going to book anything. People questioning now why should I get the jabs if it gives them no freedom, the death rates are so low it’s bordering on obsessive now, people will carry this virus jabs or no jabs at one point do they stop testing?

Well if they stopped renaming things for the sale of political correctness then maybe folk could keep up.
And I don't think this variant is changing that much too be honest.
The government is basically sage and the science bods at the moment and that's the problem.

There’s one poster who will be delighted by this absolute fuckwhit behaviour from the government, we all understand things change but the Portugal thing is just bizarre thinking.

The cynical amongst us will think our esteemed government want us plebs spending our hard earned on overpriced food, drink and accommodation in the UK for them then to claim some sort of economic miracle.
