Covid and travel discussion

It’s a strange thing isn’t it? People moan about how shit this country is, can’t wait to get away on holiday, they book a beach resort in the Med…

…yet spend their entire holiday around the pool at their hotel or seeking out bars that serve British food and beer and that shows the Premier League games, don’t bother with the beach, and don’t bother with the culture or cuisine of the country/island/town they’ve gone to, never venture into the areas of natural beauty or places of interest or history (no that doesn’t include the “old town” where the shops are a bit different) near to where they’ve gone on holiday.

They’ll also have never thought of the wonderful places to visit in Britain. When you suggest to holiday here, they’d think of Blackpool and Butlins and “fuck that”!
Bit of a sweeping generalisation that old chap. I can’t stand going on holiday and being surrounded by the same English knob heads that I’m surrounded by at home. That’s why I specifically go to places that they’ll not be. It’s pretty easy to do if you discount the major resorts.

I concur

It’s not strange. It’s what some people want out of their holidays.
All the flag waving pride in your country isn’t going to change that however much you and others try and tell everyone how wonderful the UK is.
We get it, Britain has everything needed for the perfect getaway, there’s no need to ever get on a plane again when everything you need is on the doorstep.

The second Spain goes on the green list the flights will be full and millions of people will be happily flying out for their holidays and what they get up to on that holiday should be entirely down to them. If that means eating a full English in the morning then good for them. Even if it doesn’t fit your idea of the perfect getaway.

Love Premier Inn - travelodge without the smell of sick, piss and smoke. Better quality fixtures and fitting with huge beds and baths. I always thought when Lenny Henry promoted them that if he could bath and shag dawn French in a Premier Inn room and get a decent nights kip too they must be good.
Lol ..I'd sooner holiday in a fox hole

Spot on

Benidorm and Malaga are Blackpool!

Why is this country so expensive for holidays does anyone know?
It rains a lot, chronic traffic jams to get there and full of nob heads in a lot of places.
Don't get it

I can't stand the place
Only bit I like in this country is the lake district.
In this country you get stuck in traffic, get ripped off and its full of nob heads fighting.
Abroad for me every time, wouldn't waste my time going anywhere here

you need to find happiness in yourself mate.

The government is taking the piss because as capitalists they can't say no - just go next year. The travel industry will recover come what may. Holidays are a privilege not a right.

The travel industry will be a carcass before long.
Anyone left will be saddled with debt.
And when will it even return?
Lots of countries will remain closed for this year and some may stay shut for 2022.

The travel industry cannot survive on bucket and spade European holidays, but we ain't even getting them this summer.

It's a joke that the government can basically shut down an entire industry yet feel no obligation to support it.
