Sterling can’t get in the City team because of Foden. Foden looks like one of the best young players in the world and one of the best left forwards in the world; yet he’s never played for England on the left. Sterling has played every game that Foden has started for England, on the left.

Well yeah, but it allows them to cut in and have a shot, or pass it to the full back for a bit of width. Or it would, if he hadn't instructed the full backs to never go past the halfway line in case they get a nose bleed.
