Some are blind and won’t see it; won’t see where the government has failed every step of the way. I don’t really have a party, but what I’ve found as I’ve got older how cult like it is following one and blind and biased people become. It’s a shame, even worse they’ll still get in power next time around. Madness
Tell em anything needs to change and the answer will come back:
"I'm not paying for that!"
Even if it saved money.
Miserliness is just one of those mental traps.
Austerity didn't start of as a rational calculated response to events. It just kicked off a ten year cycle of misery as men up and down the country felt threatened by having to pay for the banking crisis. Rather stay at home in't cupboard eatin beans than pay for another hoody to go to therapy. Hundreds of thousands of nurses, doctors, police and so on? Sack em. Gotta make ends meet somewhere. Now all we can do is moan about access to GPs and crime.
Young lads dont give a fuck about public services, all about another tear about in the car or off down the pub. But the dads - stupid fuckwits. Cut education, bigger class sizes. Wait til you see what comes out of them in the future.
I really wouldn't expect them to feel priviledged and proud of their society and education like some of us did. They'll not give much of a fuck about our generation when it's our turn. They'll not remember us doing much for them. Or for our parents. We just sat there and grumbled. Country reached a new low, set precedent with the 'arsed' attitude towards planning for COVID after failing to deal with social care.
Just wait until they, the ones coming out of those huge classes, into a world the the shitty jobs you avoided are the norm. Crime is a given. Violence because of no policing. People growing up in those environments are not very understanding. So wait until they are the ones to decide how much care and attention they should give our needs.
Plenty'll be voting to get rid of you at 70, healthy or otherwise. It's just a couple more steps down the ladder from what I've heard from lads this time. Neighbour said last year was a bit of a cull of the heard, probably not a bad thing. Others on here treat it like business as usual, some practically delighted to be rid of the burden. That's where we left it when it was the elderly's needs and our decision. Soon enough, it'll be your needs, and the next generation's decision.
And that's why you
always want to use your turn to help society to climb UP. More esteem, more fair, more patient, more thoughtful, more respectful. More rights. More openeness. Whenever possible. More investment. More pride for the kids in their environment. More hope. Then they'll naturally be passing it on. But not if we keep forgetting to tell them, and show them, each human is of special value. Then they won't think about it. Compassion won't be engaged. You'll be numbers on a balance sheet. Where's the saving to be made.
Oops. Should always vote for a bit more, not less. Short of people absolutely taking the piss with services and public sector employment, it's the only rational decision. Pay now or pay twice later. Pay for the new lot to grow up somewhere good, with a good education, respected by the system, or you'll pay for them not shaping up, not earning, sick, unhappy, off the rails, for the rest of their lives. Pay for them, before it's your turn to live at their hands. And pay for the oldies, and the vulnerable, to set the standard. Because what you do now, will be the starting point for the negotiation when it's your turn to get old and need to be treated well. You'll all be experts at a kind word and a hand around the shoulder for the elderly. Nice. But you had to demand rights on their protection, care, safety, and pay for it all. Because they won't likely demand it. They'll be too frail, and most of all - no one will listen. You'll patronise the shit out of them, and not a single word will register. One day, you'll be on the other end of that. Should have seen it coming.
