France probably won’t.
 
He plays one flair player Foden then always subs him off first. Gareth is not going to change he is safety first having been a defender, no creativity at all in midfield. The Germans know this and will have far more flair. If our defence has one of its customary cock-ups then game over.
 
If Gareth plays a boring style as usual I hope Sterling stays fairly central like he did against the Czechs.It’s probably his best position if teams aren’t parking the bus. Against this German side I expect him to get in 2/3 times with his pace and movement. Fingers crossed he has a good day with one on ones!
 
Following yesterday's two fantastic games, brace yourself for a borefest, the waistcoat will go 3 centre backs, 2 wing backs and 2 defensive midfielders, so a back 7.
The fall guys will be the front 3 for not scoring from numerous aimless punts upfield, same old England same old Gareth.
 
Same old nonsense on BBC1 this morning. Silly Sally is very nervous. Dan is worried about penalties etc.

All feels like someone else’s team to me. Hope the blues do well but if they don’t, they’ll get the most criticism. If they do well, they’ll get few plaudits.

Got a feeling we’ll have seen this game before by 8.00 pm tonight.
 
All the media seem to be reporting Southgate will revert to 5-2-3 as he’s scared of the threat Germany pose.

With the expected team Foden is due to start. However, his links are Phillips behind, Kane to the left and trippier. Now Phil is amazing at link up play and clever touches etc. I can imagine him being incredibly isolated but probably will get slated if he doesn’t produce the goods.

Southgate is truly a bottle job. We haven’t played this formation for over a year and he does it now. Germany look awful at the back so god knows why we don’t grow a pair of balls and use attack as our best form of defence.

yep foden with only Sterling and Kane up top with him and all behind blockers defensive minded players will make it near impossible for the front three to make chances maybe on the break! Southgate should just go for it with a midfield of Sterling Grealish foden Saka Kane up top
 
So if the news is true of him going to a back 5 with the two holding mids, it's basically up to Foden to create anything?

I hope the England fans were practising their plastic chair throwing skills yesterday.

Will be a big day for the chair chuckers, lots of renditions of anti German songs, no surrender, twelve bombers, blah fucking blah. A big chance for the dickheads to reimagine Dunkirk, D-day and Dresden.

Just hope none of our players get injured, England lose and our lads get on the beach by saturday having a rest. Much more important games to come, we have a title to defend.

Yep, one of those nights where it's probably going to be best to be on the bench.

No doubt Foden will get hooked for Grealish on 60 minutes.

'Here is the news. There is no news from BBC as we just want to deal with football and a bit of tennis.....
Forget anything else going on in the country and the World- we already have'.
Then we get a stream of nobodies who say they don't follow football but predict the score.
We have noticed played a knockout match yet. FFS.
 
We've sat off teams too much so far. I thought the Czech's got to our final third far too easily. If we let Kroos/Gundogan have the ball too comfortably then we will struggle. But I also think we'd be smart to mix strategies. Press them only when it comes into either of their midfielders and not every time just to make sure we have a defensive shape. And then when we attack we want to be slicing down the middle and exposing their lack of pace.

I feel pretty confident even though history tells us we have no chance of winning it in 90 minutes and if it's ET/penalties then even if the players don't remember - the crowd will be telling them through their collective nerves that we'll probably lose!

Come on England! Get through this and on paper it couldn't be better for us to make the final. But having lost to Iceland at the last Euros and Croatia in the WC semi - who were a good side but a side we would have expected to beat - anything can happen.

Tbh it makes sense from a tactical point of view.

If we don't match their formation they'll tear us apart with their wing backs, like the did to Portugal.

5 at that back, whilst seen as defensive will allow for us to match their wing backs width without conceding too much space in the centre.

Just need the forwards to be on form and we've got a chance.
