We all know fans are fickle to say the least but I can't see him doing anything that would get most of our fans behind him. Would have sooner have seen a younger manager who wanted to make a stamp on the game and try some new ideas. But it is what it is and you support the team whatever.

you know what at newcastle he did have the making of a good team and got some good contacts and scouts
but needed money and investment from the owner but we know what he was like. maybe everton should just give him a chance because with his knowledge and plays the game the right way you never know ? what harm can it do than be better than last season when you tailed off fast

everton will be still that team hard to beat at home and take points of some of the top 4 teams

I wouldn't want to see Bobby Manc pitching up at Old Trafford one day, wearing some abomination,of a Utd scarf. Poor old Red Scouse are probably livid.

I would have thought the thinking would be that he was hailed a messiah at Newcastle, and elephant man Bruce hated and wanted sacked, yet Bruce had a better record........your actually getting someone who in his last job was worse than Steve Bruce!!
That must be rather worrying for Evertonians.

That's the vote of confidence needed I agree , when was the last time they were relegated?

Funny if an ex Liverpool manager was in charge if they do.
At half-time on the final day of the 93-94 season IIRC. But the second half had to be played and some dodgy keeping from Hans Segers helped Everton to a 3-2 win having been 0-2 down.

I'm sure this game was mentioned in a book. I think word had gone around that some smackheads had been paid to attack the players if Everton went down and therefore the game was duly thrown. I believe Vinnie Jones in particular was a marked man.

Always thought he was overly negative at Newcastle and if I was an Evertonian I wouldn't be too happy although if he does well I suppose he'll be 'accepted' albeit begrudgingly. Like City, Everton will always be a big and proud club and I wouldn't want an ex u****d manager coming anywhere near us if he'd made similar snide comments
Said to the Mrs, it'd be like signing Fergie after he called us Noisy neighbors and never in his life time! He might bring trophies, but fans would be on his back!
