The training pitch is the opportunity to show you are ready for a competitive game. The training pitch is not a competitive first team game.
Mate,I'll give you an example.....I'm wrong in your eyes, some others too but i stand by what i say
Was easy enough in 86 when Hinchcliffe, Brightwell Redmond, Lake, White and Moulden helped to win the FA youth cup. 5 of those players played in the 5-1 'Maine Road Massacre' in 89. My point is they were given a chance and proved good enough.
I'd just like some our youngsters to be given a chance, that's all.
It basically comes down to individuals expectations from the academy. Yours is clearly it must bear more fruit for the first team. Surely you would agree, if there were more youngsters at the same level as Phil, then it would.
No but I‘d get rid of academy and open a sausage factory. Atleast we can eat sausage but we can’t eat foden .Has anyone mentioned promoting kids from the academy yet?
Was Iheanacho ever part of our academy? The academy is built as extra revenue to help the clubs finances. If we produced a Phil Foden then that’s the cherry on the top!

Foden is the only homegrown academy player that's made it since our academy opened in late 2013. That's pretty piss poor i think.
Where is he playing now?Mate,I'll give you an example.....
My godson was in the academy, very highly rated.
Scored over 600 goals for us the time he was there,103 being the most in one season (I kid you not).
Think he was the youngest ever to be called up by England at youth level.
Signed a 6 year sponsorship with Adidas.
Was told by someone at City that there was no pathway to the first team and he would not go beyond U18 level.....he moved.
Expectations are very high at City.....there is no doubt about that.

Delap, Doyle, Palmer, Harwood-Bellis and Bernabé all started games for us last season. Relax.
Weren't they subbed off when we were one down?Pretty much all of those starts came in September in league cup games, when half of the first team were injured or barely back from pre-season. After that the only ones who started were Doyle and THB against Cheltenham (and they were both subbed off).

No i don't expect overnight success but the academy (like i say) has been open going on 8 years! The rags have had success by successfully integrating youth into the first team and there's no excuses not to give our best kids a chance IMO.
Absolutely - youth cup in '86, relegation '87, promotion '89, beat the rags 5-1 in '90 when they finished 13th and we finished 14th. Bit different to the level we operate at now.Was easy enough in 86 when Hinchcliffe, Brightwell Redmond, Lake, White and Moulden helped to win the FA youth cup. 5 of those players played in the 5-1 'Maine Road Massacre' in 89. Gotta say, that’s a very poor choice of words for the headlineThe academy is built as extra revenue to help the clubs finances. If we produced a Phil Foden then that’s the cherry on the top!

Was thinking the same.On the academy stuff, I don’t think it’s a coincidence that the EDS manager has been promoted to the first team...
