CFG | Academy | EDS in & out season 2021/22

Sunderland are a bit of a basket case these days, Callum will probably end up playing under three different managers in two years there. Hope we have included a break clause if he is getting messed around because he is a brilliant prospect

Correct, Callum Doyle is a brilliant prospect. Really surprised by this if it happens as Callum has only been in the U18’s and EDS U23’s for one season. Was expecting him to become one of the main breakout names this coming season from City’s Academy, one that fans would have been talking about.

I was thinking the same when I saw the previous posts. He's actually still 17 (October birth month), not 18 as the Tweet states. I'd missed the fact that, like Lavia, he started in the U18s (aged just 16) at the start of the season but half way through was promoted to the U23s.

I'm going to have to start watching more clubs I think this coming season.

Perhaps the Club have a change of policy for the younger players. Get them out sooner on loan than previous. If so not sure how i feel about that. Robertson to Ross County is another one I thought may stay on for another season in the EDS team, just like Callum Doyle. TBF there are some good U18's from last season who will make the step up.

I think it's just the culmination of a long drawn out plan, we've got so much quality coming through at all age ranges that they're having to move them out on either loans, or sold with sell on or buy back options. From the little we get to see of the lower age ranges I think we're set for the next 10 years at least of the same.

Dont think this club is right for him, failed the first time.

It looks like an outright sale rather than another loan since he's only got 12 months left on his contract and he's 2 or 3 years older now. If they're happy to buy him then I can't see how the club can be wrong for him. It might not work out but that's to be seen.

Should be £15m minimum.
With only 12 months on his contract I can't see it TBH. Maybe a lower fee with a sell on in case he's a late developer.
