In my opinion both players would be excellent additions to the team. But for me the reports of Kane's enthusiasm and desire to come to City edges it. I think Haaland is waiting for the best financial package and is prepared to stay at Dortmund another year to broaden his options, and that's completely his right. Kane is hungry for trophies and will be surrounded by excellent creativity at City and will be very well managed and highly motivated. I also think Haaland will have 2 or 3 moves throughout his career and City will be one of them. As for Kane's fee, I don't think it would be £160m but I also think it will be reported as that regardless.

That's mainly because social media was in its infancy when Shearer was at his peak and whilst the Premier league was well covered around the world it wasn't as huge as it is today.
If he was playing today he'd be mentioned in the same breath as any of the top players in the bracket below Messi and Ronaldo.
That people would give you a puzzled look if asked about him says far more about them than it does Shearers standing in the game.

Disagree, we have too high opinion of our players.

Shearer was a great goal scorer and player but staying at Newcastle destroyed his standing in the game.

Fantastic loyalty , commendable, but a huge mistake in his career.

They also talk more freely. I have no doubt in my mind, the Kanes have been told by Levy they can go when a fee agreed, that was the breaking point for this move. I also suspect £160 mill is Spurs starting point. There will be negotiating now to do. It'll get done.

For those who are more interested in celebrity then yes, it might have affected his standing in their eyes.
Shearer was the very best in his position for many years and if anything, doing the business every season for an inferior team actually works in his favour when discussing how good he is.
I'm not sure how seriously I can take the opinions of those who try and put down a player just because he didn't go weak at the knees when one of the so called big boys came knocking. Especially when that player still holds records that some of the world's superstars couldn't break whilst playing in the Premier league.
