Harry Kane

Exactly that. You don't sign long deals expecting to stay, you sign them for a pay rise and to make sure the selling club get a good deal. Levy will have told him that if he gets a good deal for him he can go, and Kane understandably thinks smashing the English record transfer fee very comfortably meets the criteria, not the English record plus half again.
And reference to £100m made during the ratboy interview also set the fee discussed

It is amateur hour, for the life of me why didn’t he translate the gentleman’s agreement into a buyout clause?! That would have protected his interests and don’t see how it would’ve harmed Tottenham’s. What’s this nonsense about a gentleman’s agreement, put it in the damn contract!

His agent is his brother, not a savvy and professional agent.

Is the gentlesman agreement something agreed last year, way after the contrct was signed and as he never thought about leavimg then didn't need a buyout clause.

Under potch/jose he expected spurs to push on, last year it is evident they have stalled and so he asked if he could leave in the summer, whoch he claims Levy agreed to.

If true it is still a bibding contract

IMO

Kane's been told, sign the contract to protect our investment and when you leave next year everyone's a winner. That's been reneged upon and now he's fucking fuming and rightly so. People in the media talking shite about him, he was clearly told he'd be able to leave on the back of a tournament for 9 figures, he's took it at face value (big mistake)and now he's being made out to be the antagonist.

You dont orchestrate that " goodbye" last season without promises being made, it doesn't happen

Even if he stays now I can see him not celebrating a goal etc to get out ASAP.

Well Kane brother and Kane are thick as fuck then if they think 9 figures is 100m it can also be 199m my god Kane has loyalty to his brother but he comes across as a naive as they come levy be pissing himself when Kane signed that contract! This is going to cost us well more that we thought if we really pushing this deal..

Totally agree. In a different life, I worked a lot on multi million pound contracts where the clients were sometimes lax with their requirements. I used to stand up in front of them and say, " If it isn't written, it was never said" just to protect ourselves from them coming back downstream.

What would you suggest? His contract was signed in 2019. Would you ask Levy last year to insert some gentleman agreement into your contract last year? I genuinely don’t know how something like this would be done when a player is already in a contract for a number of years. It’s not my area of expertise as you can tell! :-)

With your experience in Kane’s situation last year when him and Levy were discussing this how would you factor it in, legally for there to be no such recriminations like this now?

Buyout clause - 200m at the beginning and 50m in last year of contract on a sliding scale in between would seem prudent. My guess is the Kane brothers were sold a kipper by Levy in terms of promised investment in other players which is why Kane is so pissed off now about committing the last 6 years of his top level career to spursy spurs.

If we are paying anywhere near 100m for Grealish, then 150/160m for Kane is a fair deal.

Crazy money but unlike Grealish , Kane's record is outstanding and he has proved himself for numerous years.

Let's hope the "gentleman's" agreement is real and is in his contract, otherwise this will be a long drawn out battle and whatever we think, Spurs are in the box seat.

The rest of the Spurs squad and players elsewhere will be watching Levy’s short term expedience. Holding players to contracts against their will is counter productive. Kane will get his own way and Levy will look the tough guy, which will look good with Spurs fans but to players and agents Levy will be considered an inflexible and difficult employer.

Sorry in advance but woke up with this going around in my head.
