You’d have thought City were prepared for what was happening with his contract despite the rumours he’d agreed to a deal a few weeks ago. So it may will be true that we haven’t got an interest in him this summer.

True but apparently this caught Messi by surprise yesterday. I think Barca has pulled the rug from under him.

My gut feeling is that, almost straight after Messi found out, he gave Pep a call. Whether or not we want, or can afford, him was then a matter for us.
