If City were close to signing Messi last Summer, why wouldn't City try and sign him now on a free? Or has the Signing of Grealish, and the not guaranteed signing off Kane made City do a compete u-turn on Messi? Very strange.

We didn't try to sign him. I think it was financially impossible after grealish deal

Maybe we are genuinely sick of the circus. How many times can you ask Messi to sign for city without looking like a twat??? Khaldoon probably told him to feck off.

Also, we all thought he was staying at Barca so does it really matter now he is in Paris?

Also we have JG & Phil.

Doesn't help PSG in CL knockout games imo. No team can carry Messi, Neymar and MBappe walking when they don't have the ball

Let what go? I’m not THAT bothered about Messi given the strength of our squad, but it all seems a little too rapid. Am I not allowed to posit a different theory?

Of course you are it just seems a bit desperate or in denial when he's in advanced talks with PSG, I would love him but it's not gonna happen now.

I’m not sure I heard that. He actually said we don’t want to keep players who are not happy. He intimated there were three or four who can leave if “they bring offers”

He has said many times that he loves this club and loves the players.
No, he doesn't seem to be pushing anyone out, but the players won't get tender loving care, either. The possibility of Aguero, Bernarado, and more is a significant turnover, especially for the league champion.
Tangentially, this would mean he is considering beyond the contracted two years. He is not doing the Pellegrini's last season of passive aggressive s@@@ show. City aren't simply putting on the finishing touches for one last CL run for Guardiola. Guardiola is puttong himself in the middle of large changes.

And probably there were rumblings of this happening prior to today that City were aware of, and probably Graelish suggested he would like some reassurances.

If he does join PSG then at least that should be UEFA off our backs now. Even they wouldn’t have the brass neck to come after us again for our spending in the light of this. Not that they would anyway after the humiliation at CAS, but this deal would weaken FFP further still.

Bizarre events. I think it’s fair to say with a majority of Barca players issuing their farewells Messi really is off.

Surprised we haven’t pivoted to this as judging from reports PSG have wrapped this up sharpish whilst it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to envisage it will take a lot longer to try and negotiate with Levy & Spurs for Harry.

Apparently he refused taking the #10 and gonna wear the 19. Paris is Paris and Manchester is Manchester. He is family oriented so it‘s obv where he is gonna move. I‘ve also never seen him speak one word of English. Quite funny being a global superstar and u don’t speak one word English.

Anybody stopped and considered that these leaks to the media that hes signing for Paris and "nobody else has made an offer" might just be another Jorge and Leo ploy to get everyone else pulling their wallets out?

Not a cat in hells chance he signs the first offer on the table within 24 hours in the pig farmers league (unless of course all this has been lined for for weeks, in which case slightly plausible)

contract coming is 35m a year, 5 more than ney or mbappe. Without any transfer fee and with big marketing income its affordable, city could have too despite your recent big transfers.

I mean, it wouldn't surprise me. There has been a lot of twists and turns regarding Messi in the last year or 2.

We'll see what happens in the next day or 2.
