So why not wait to see how things play out at Barca? Let's say they get to the 70% via player sales, they would presumably be able to register a player who is on a nominal/nil salary. I guess there is no reason Messi couldn't continue to train there to keep his fitness levels up. And if it doesn't work out, he then signs his PSG contract.
You're clearly living in La-la-land. Do you think that they didn't try to offload players before letting him go? Do you think that negotiating a contract with another club is an easy matter? Do you think that the clubs wanting him will wait until Barca fail to sign him? Jesus Christ...

Dont know if youve ever been but paris is a shithole.

Every city has their ‘shit holes’. That’s socio economics for you.

You don't honestly believe the PSG players live & frequent in the deprived arrondissements just as much as the City players live in Moss Side or Rusholme.

Barca have to get their wage bill under a certain number this season. Even with Messi gone, they can't hit that number so they can't register any new players.
It's not just their wage bill. It's wages, including senior non playing staff, plus amortisation. All of those have to be under €200m before they can register players. Griezeman, Dembele & Coutinho alone account for €144m just in amortisation, before any wages are taken into account.

Wtf.....how can they stop him signing for anyone else???
Same case as when they went to court over Neymar. They won't be able to stop it, but it'll be a massive lawsuit, expect the return of Super league and calls for UEFA to elaborate on FFP rules allowing it to happen. Will be rather, Messy, no pun intended.

Don't think it's Barca who is taking anyone to court. It's just some section of fans is what I figured.

Sorry I spoke mate. But if Messi is so desperate to stay at Barca, why not give it a shot. He'll have no shortage of suitors if it can't work out

City haven't missed out on Messi, we simply choose not to pursue it this year.
Is the correct answer.

I've not heard anyone from the club say we was interested in him or any tweets to confirm our interest.
Seems some posters on here are taking great joy by saying Messi rejected us once or twice.

We was never once or twice officially interested in him but don't let that spoil anything.

With all the money clubs lost through covid you would have thought la liga would have bent the rules to keep its star attraction

He's allegedly getting a €25m signing-on fee from PSG. Why the fuck does he need that?
Why do Tom Cruise and The Rock demand $30m for two months work filming a new movie? Because that’s what the market will pay. You know fully well how economics works which makes you last sentence rather redundant as you know the answer.

Well obviously he wants it, but he doesn't need it. I don't blame him for taking it. We both would but it kind of shows his attitude to Barca.

It's like someone who maxed out their credit cards and overdraft wondering why they can't pay for a holiday.
