Afghanistan

So sad, there's a lot in the UK, they must be so worried about family and friends back home. The country is a lost cause and will be a haven for Terrorists groups, I feel sorry for the majority of the population who will now live in relative poverty and a backward society led by a minority of lunatics. In a utopian society we would get the innocents out of there and bomb the fuck out of the place, polish the cunts off for good.

It's a saddening state of affairs

Let them get on with it. It baffles me how these Islamist folk like to live their lives but who are we to question it? If women are happy being nothing more than breeding fodder then so be it. If they’re not and if there is a genuine groundswell for change in these countries you’d have thought there may have been a people’s revolution by now? Instead 2000 years later they’re still living by the same doctrines and stoning people to death. Hey ho.
Afghanistans had several revolutions, coups and occupations, seems the peolel have rose up before only to be beaten down.

Unfortunately the soviet-afghan war bred most of the terrorist factions of the last 30 years.

The yanks and Russians are still there.

Contracted mercenaries on both sides. It's war by proxy.

The Taliban hide behind a facade of ultra conservative Islam but in all reality it’s drugs cartel.
Opium production will sky rocket in the coming years.

Hard to revolt against blokes handing out daily public floggings with AK-47s as back up. "They've got the guns but we've got the numbers" was one of the daftest sayings of modern times.

I believe the Taliban say 'you may have the watches, but we have the time'.....

And didn't the USA supply these terrorists with a lot of arms?

It's terrible.
But how long should the west, mainly America, fund a war in Afghanistan ?

Just watched the video about why Hitler didn't invade Switzerland.
The two main reasons were mountains and the fact that the Swiss we're armed.
Sounds like the Taliban.

Not on my holiday destinations. My never go east of Greece mantra is getting stronger each year.

Afganistan is too big a country with too many ethnic groups all over the place with no modern infrastructure and isolated by the geographical terrain.

It’s no wonder the Taliban are reemerging and always will.

It’s like putting City, United and Liverpool fans in a dilapidated stadium unsegregated with no security and asking them to get along.

Still some places on guided tours.

I expected them to be cancelled

I don’t think there’s anyone out there that is surprised by this. It was always going to end in tears, until the people of that Country can stop the rot from within it will continue to fester

The unpalatable truth is that this is why we need spy satellites and stand off weapons...

Yep you’re right, it is. But history is littered with tyranny and also with revolution. It’s not impossible.
It’ll never happen though as it seems to me that most women in these countries are happy to dress as they do and be treated as scum. We in the West just don’t get it but we have to accept it for what it is rather than sticking our oar in where it’s not wanted.

We have stuck our oar in that’s the trouble and now left them to defend themselves whilst the yanks and all other countries together could not defeat them.

From a purely practical standpoint, you are absolutely correct. It's just too difficult to successfully intervene.

But from a moral standpoint, it is tough to just standby and watch people being treated so terribly and to do nothing simply because some they are the other side of some arbitrary line which we call another country. We are all humans on the same planet.

If you saw a neighbour beating his wife or god-forbid, his kids, I would hope no-one would say "it's up to them what they do in their house/garden". Yet if it's done in another country it's OK? Doesn't sit right with me.

It has, and always will be, a fuedal state. The tribes fight for whoever pays the most and they are very, very good it. War is a way of life in Afghanistan and it has been for centuries.

The Russians found out not long ago, like all invading armies before them, and now NATO are finding it out too - there is just no way to win a war in Afghanistan.

Such a tragic waste of life. It's time all the troops were pulled out.
Agree.

I feel so very sorry though for the Afghan people as a whole - shortly to be under the brutal reign of a zealous government.
