Liam Delap - Ipswich player 2024-25

Does he need a loan though? Spurs thought that about Kane in 2013 - then when they stuck him on the pitch he hit the ground running. We'll never know with Delap unless we give him a chance!
Kanes development centred around loans,it's not unrealistic to suggest he may not have been the player he is now without such.

As for Liam,he is a wondeful prospect, but having watched him regularly since his arrival,i think he would benefit far more from being a constant pick in a Championship side, rather than gathering splinters here while hoping for a cup game or two and the odd 10 mins elsewhere.

Fair point but it worked for Phil not going on loan. All depends on if we get a striker I suppose. I think he’ll score plenty for us if Phil, Kev and Jack are feeding him.

Phil is/was different gravy,he is a one off....the club made it work,he's been at the academy since he could talk and he adores the club - he is the EDS poster boy and the player all others hope to emulate.

Liam is very good, but he is fiercely ambitious and without Foden's patience. He has little loyalty to City, and would happily move to gain a leg up with his career.

I just don't see Pep turning to him.

No I don’t either. But I would. And I like most others on here know much much more than pep ;)

In fairness, given some of his recent decisions, then that isn't such a crazy comment.

The reality though,we all love to romanticise and let our hearts rule where promoting kids are concerned and Liam fits that criteria currently.

As far as I know, loan requests have already been turned down for Palmer and Delap.

Might be holding on to Delap until Kane is sorted one way or the other. Isn't the loan window to lower leagues open for a longer period?
I don't know. I would like him, Palmer, McAtee and Lavia to get some minutes in cup competitions, myself.

anyone knows how long he's out for? as long as we don't have kane, this is the guy i'd rather see start as striker for us.

Same time as the permanent market for EFL clubs and straight through to March for the National League and below (not suggesting that Delap will head that low though).

time to start playing more for the first team! If he's fully fit, should start vs norwich unquestionably
He hasn't played a single match this preseason, so no he's not fit. And with the amount of suitors he apparently has we should be able to find a good loan for him.

I think we should keep hold of him for now, just in case things don't work out in the transfer market!

One of the things that excites me about the possible Kane signing is that Kane’s got 4/5 years at the top level. So we can have one of the best strikers in the world for the right now while also having the opportunity to blood Delap through, in 5 years time Delap should hopefully have played a good role in the city squad and at 22/23 potentially take over from Kane up front.

Say if no new striker is coming in and City goes ahead with the options they already have (false 9, Raz, Ferran, Gabby, etc..) what would your realistic expectation be for Delap? As in how many apps, goal contributions, etc..
