Liam Delap - Ipswich player 2024-25

Decent interview here

Never saw him going to Stoke.

I get why the club and player want to do a loan, but don't go to the club your dad is a coach at... that just isn't right imo.

Yup, that would be too much of a give it to Gordon, show. Boro might be a decent place for him to crack on for a season.

Like a few have highlighted already, iron out a few things on loan and hopefully he can come back ready as a player to take over from Kane as our no.1 striker

Not sure if he's injured at present, but Sunday v Spurs was crying out for a striker (especially after KDB came on) - and Delap was no where to be seen.

If he's injured, then fair enough, but if not we need to give him a chance. He could have turned the game on it's head.

I dont think it should depend on Kane as he is still miles off being a regular for us.
He needs a loan for his development and his hunger.

Does he need a loan though? Spurs thought that about Kane in 2013 - then when they stuck him on the pitch he hit the ground running. We'll never know with Delap unless we give him a chance!

It was bad luck for him to be injured in pre-season but even if he had scored a few goals he may not have been included in match day squads.

According to this, our new under 23 coach Brian Barry-Murphy, thinks Delap will train with the first team, hope so.

Kane had played over 60 games on loan before he got his chance in the Spurs team though

I have a feeling that Kane was at Leicester around that time.

Fair point that. Many established top players have gone down the loan route and Delap would perhaps benefit greatly from going to a competitive championship club prepared to give him sufficient game time for him to try and prove himself.

However, i feel keeping him here on the bench and bringing him off the bench gradually will be good for him, especially if were a couple of goals up in relieving a bit of pressure off him to score when he gets the chance. Either way he needs carefully managed game game like Foden had. I believe he's still out injured at the moment though.
