Arsenal (H) | Post-Match Thread

The passing between our back 5 in the first half was comical, but Arsenal were so shit they did nothing about it.

Our midfielders and attackers were great. Could have been any score if we’d really gone for it.

Arsenal are going down if they keep Arteta.

That was the worst performance I've seen from a "big team" in some time.

Lots of positives for City. Jesus looks very motivated, Gundogan controlled the middle, Grealish is settling. A performance that makes some of the people calling for Pep's or the board's heads over Kane/Ronaldo look silly given how strong our recruitment has been over the years.
What what ?
That means city played worst?
Since arsenal is not a big team anymore. There was only one big team playing

After watching this game it sank in that Pep is worth at least a goal a game with his tactics. I am not convinced that Kane or Ronaldo would have made a big difference today. Maybe the big matches are different . Its not just having a CF in the big games that makes a difference, its appreciating that you have to change tactics when you dont always have 70% control .
Torres reminds me of a young Ronaldo, very powerful shot. Give him time.
To be honest a CF would be great, but truthfully would prefer to keep Eric and Bern at this moment in time. Just hope the Bern scenario does not relate to his pal Mendy.
Never in my lifetime have I seen such glorious football...CTID.
i think you hit the nail on the head there mate with that Kane or Ronaldo wouldnt have changed much,to get the best of either of those we would have to direct the play to them,as it is at the moment we have an abundance of options in the final 3rd, its so easy to be blinded thinking xy or z will improve the team but in reality we know it dosnt work like that, i'm now glad we didnt get either of them esp the later of the two, that man says its all about me and that dosent sit well in a squad that plays for each other

Arsenal aren’t a big team anymore. Nowhere near it.

Arsenal tactics were spot on for 15 minutes, man for man, not pressing Eddie.

As soon as Bernie started coming deep to collect and get us out, they couldn't live with Jesus and Cancelo keeping the pitch wide.

Delighted with a few things.

Pep's comments that Bernie is happy.

Jesus proving to be a great winger.

Torres showing with each passing game that it isn't luck he gets into scoring positions. Today he even threw his weight about, which was terrific to see.

City would have won that game 5-0 today, whether Arsenal had a man sent off or not.

Because we can.

So glad Stones signed that new deal because Laporte looks like he could be hard to dislodge for a while and break up the Dias partnership.

Thought at times the statue of David Silva had channelled some spirit of David into Bernardo .... but then it was against Arsenal a couple of seasons ago when David literally ran a ring round 3 Arsenal players and there were similar moves from Bernardo today.

It did look like a farewell wave.... but to where?

They started really strong and we struggled at first, scored with our first attack from nothing. At 2-0 Ederson got bored and decided to fuck about a bit and they nearly scored from a blocked Ederson pass. Result never in doubt, Bernardo in tears when subbed and gave a 360 degree clap to the crowd.
Did he look like he was leaving

We are the embodiment of a 'team' - no room for prima donnas like Kane or Ronaldo who want the spotlight shining solely on them and who live for their stats. We share the goals and assists around. Makes it difficult for opponents to focus on stopping on just one or two of our players.
I thought there were too many misplaced passes in the first few minutes and Walker had a difficult first half by his very high standards. Once Gundog bagged the first they collapsed like a deck of cards. Bernie set the tone with his skill and energy and then Jesus and Torres had excellent games. Great to think that Sterling, Mahrez and to some extent, Grealish, haven't really been needed to make a big impact yet and we've still got KDB and Foden to come back. Loads more to come from this team - could be frightening when we really start to play in top gear.
Splendid post. Take a bow Stan.

The media will have everyone believe that Pep is a chequebook manager but there is fuck all between the quality of City, United, Liverpool and Chelsea's best 11. I think Liverpool drop away when we compare squads, but I fully believe that Chelsea and United have just as strong a squad as City.

It annoys me when people say well United have good players on paper but they're not really a team. A midfield consisting of KDB, David Silva and Fernandinho was good on paper but Pep turned it into the most dominant PL midfield trio the PL has ever seen.

Fernandes, Pogba and Fred should be able to dominate the midfield in a similar manner but they've got a gormless, nodding lapdog as a manager and have cronies in the Media who constantly play down expectation at their club. Whereas Pep is the only manager I know who gets judged on the CL. The external pressure he faces as a manager is ridiculous.

Pep is a genius and I think it gets taken for granted just how good he actually is.

Even if we won 15 nill they would still say the reason was because Arsenal were shite

A great win and even though they were down to 10 men we looked so comfortable.

I thought the midfield three were brilliant and Bernie was motm for me before he was subbed.

Grealish, Torres and Jesus are all looking great and happy so the future looks bright.....and to think that we still have Stones, KDB and Phil to come back.

COME ON CITY!!!

Eric, Gabby and Bernardo should be going nowhere. This team clicked today and they were major players in that.

After the week we've had with Kane and Ronaldo it was great to see us get 5 goals from different players, and Torres was absolutely brilliant.

Hat off to Gundog who did a great job stringing things together. Amazing to think we still have KdB and Foden to come back.
