Mendy's trial starts the day before this and will undoubtedly overshadow the build up and add a lot of external pressure to the players.

I thought they might be off their game yesterday and was obviously wrong, but it would be inhuman to not be effected by it at some point.

A win, any kind of win, would be an incredible result.

I think the significant impact around that date will be on the victims and their families, rather than Mendy’s work colleagues.

They aren't just work colleagues though are they, you cretin.

They're teammates and friends of his, some incredibly close like Bernardo, and I would think anyone with an ounce of empathy would understand that some of them might be significantly effected by finding out the details of what their friend is accused of doing, if not the media circus around it.

The period between September and October international breaks is going to be very hard on the players off the pitch and expectations on the pitch should be adjusted accordingly.

Regardless of any insults from you, I don’t agree they’ll be affected at all when they are on the pitch. It will have zero impact during the match.
 
I don't think KDB will be fit enough for this we have to manage his injury. Is foden back for this game. Will we be without the Brazilian lads if they go to international duty since they have to isolate for 10 days

But you also think people who go on 30 weekends away a year and month long preseason tours where they live, work and socialise with each other are nothing more than work colleagues so perhaps it's not surprising you think they won't be effected.
 
It seems odd to have a 3.00 pm game away from home. How are people planning to watch this on the tv?

There will be the usual overseas streams floating around or radio commentary.

Won't be his trial.

Will be a case management hearing. He could enter a plea but very unlikely.

All that will happen is they get him to confirm name and address, his barrister will argue to allow bail, the prosecution will object, the judge decides and then sets a date for pre-trial hearings and the trial.

Unlikely to have any impact on the squad.

agreed 100%, was just thinking last night with the dippers draw,that was a great result for us, come out of this set of fixture 4 or 5 behind il be well happy
 
No way we get through the internationals unscathed. We always have 1 or 2 come back with niggles. Shame Leicester get this break to recover some defenders, if we played them next weekend we would tear their makeshift defence to pieces.

As it stands they won't be released so no. Expect fifa to step in though, Brazil will be playing the u21's otherwise.

Maybe. Didn't Bernardo's form suffer, though, from that stuff about his supposedly racist joke last year? Most players, like most people, carry with them anxieties and concerns about family, friends, the future, their health, etc., and it can affect how they do their job, sometimes you can put it to the back of your mind and sometimes not.
Somewhat off topic, what's happened to the Everton player who was suspended by his club over similar charges? I'm not on Twitter so don't get any of that chat.
