Might be a short lived thread but Raducanu's about to start her 4th round match v Shelby Rogers on Amazon Prime.

Raducanu hasn't dropped a set yet, she's had to play 3 qualifying rounds as well, so she's won 6 matches 2-0. She's up against an American in New York, who's just knocked out the No1 seed, so it'll be tough.

Big opportunity for Raducanu though.

Took the first set, started a little bit slow but then tore Rogers apart.

I actually think she has more support in the stadium than the American.

Awesome stuff from Raducanu. 6 games in a row to take the first set against a woman who has just beaten the No1 seed!

She's the real deal that's 22 of the last 25 games she's won against players ranked miles higher than her, 3 more and she's in the quarters.

Emma Raducanu through to the quarter final 6-2, 6-1, phenomenal performance, still not dropped a set!

She is brilliant.

Bencic (11th seed) is next.

Let’s see how she does if she’s under the cosh and a set down
She has to lose a set to be fair but she was 2-0, 40-0 down in the first set tonight and she turned that game around and won the next 10.

No doubt that Bencic is another step up but she's beat 128th, 49th, 41st and 43rd, all ranked way ahead of her and she's handled them with ease. Should be a good match.

I don't watch a lot of tennis, especially women's, but she looked special at Wimbledon. Her record here so far is something amazing, could just be a fluke but hopefully not.

Prior to Wimbledon she was ranked 388 with prize money of tuppence.
After this she will be in the top 100 with prize money of at least £500,000. Not bad for a teenager.
The real deal, I think.

Incidently, Osaka lost in the last 32. Since she could not play in France or Wimbledon due to depression meaning she could not face the press, Osaka has:
Launched her own clothing brand, with a press day;
Appeared on the front cover of Sports Illustrated, with an interview inside;
Apologised for "handling the issue badly."
Played in some other events.
Hmmm....
I think my scepticism was justified.

They said pre match that she is only the 4th woman after Graf, Seles and Capriati to make the 4th rd or better in their first two Grand slam events.

The bookies have her at just 7/1 to win the tournament which is crazy when she was an complete unknown a couple of months ago!
Bencic her next opponent is the 5/1 tournament fav.
