Southampton (H) | Post Match Thread

A lot of players were shit today but Sterling is the only one to not sign a contract because he wants parity with the best player in the league. It’s madness and embarrassing when he plays like that more often than not.

The worst I’ve seen Fernandinho in a long, long time - if not ever - but it could be a sign that he’s more of a impact player now rather than a starter.

Just one of those days where the majority of the team were out of form and even then somehow we managed to come away with a point. We go again!

Another 2-3 insipid performances without Rodri and some fans may understand why he was key to winning the league last season.
Conversely, Rodri struggled midweek. A lot of Leipzig’s attacks bypassed him in midfield because his lack of pace allowed them opportunities, and we didn’t settle down in midfield until he went off and Fernandinho came on.

Today Fernandinho had a shocker.

I hope the haters realise how good Rodri really is
Nothing to say Rodri wouldn’t also have also struggled against that press tbf, the likes of Leicester and Chelsea have targeted and terrorised him before.
I thought Gundo and Bernie were positioned way too high today, they were almost inside forwards at times, 15-20 yards in advance of Ferna. It needed one of them to drop 10 yards for a spell and give Dinho better options and support. The inverted full backs thing really didn’t work today

so an home game in the CL followed by an home game against one of the clubs you would consider top 4 whipping boys. God help us the weekend after a trip to France or Germany then.
You obviously don’t understand football mate. I play twice a week and it gets you very leggy and you need recovery time. These guys are playing at top level

A very flat performance with too many players sloppy and below par. Southampton did what Arsenal did to us in the first few minutes of their game only all game and it worked. We did get in behind them a few times but a poor final ball and finishing let us down. I know Southampton did what they had to but fuck me was it annoying and boring to watch. Stopping the game, cheating, timewasting the lot. Moss should have clamped down more but when does he ever?

I was right behind the penalty and straight away I said no way was it a penalty. The sending off was even more ridiculous. Thank God common sense prevailed. It was bloody frustrating though as we'd given the ball away sloppily about three times in quick succession and you knew we were going to cop it.

Tight games like this expose our need for a proper striker, a physical presence to make life uncomfortable for defenders and hold up play...oh and bloody score!

All in all a game we could easily have lost so sloppy were we so a point is better than none. I think retaining the title this season will be a big ask. Indeed with our fixtures coming up unless there's a big improvement and we get our injured players back it could be over quicker than we thought.
Get through them all without losing any and its an actual victory going into October

Just back at the hotel. A pretty inept performance. Sterling, Gundo and Jesus offered precious little. As for Fernandinho, christ. He was terrible. I think the extra year may well prove to be an (understandably) sentimental mistake.
Hey Jude

Just had a quick gander on this thread ,anyone think we got beat 3-0
We drew & did not let a goal in
Worst things happen at sea
Get a grip
You clearly did not watch this match. Worst things are likely to happen in our next three matches.
Get a grip….this was awful.
