Misplaced Mancunia (music thread)

Wythenshawe lads. The singer was Paul Young (not the crap one)...he sang with Mike and the Mechanics, amongst others. Sadly passed away a few years ago. I knew his son from school.

There’s a blue plaque on his old house in Alty commemorating him living there.

I never understood why Fear of Music never really took off. (c2004-2008). I think they signed to a big label but got dumped after their album flopped. You'd think that period of time was perfect for their sort of indie.

Haha good shout. Saw these at night and day and still have the album on cd. They looked like they were about 15

London band but Billy Duffy was a Mancunian

The man who was the link between Johnny Marr and Morrissey.....

Duffy started out with Morrissey in The Nose Bleeds after Ed Banger & The Nose Bleeds ended. After 2 gigs (supporting Magazine at the Ritz and Slaughter and the Dogs / John Cooper Clarke at the Poly, Duffy quit for Slaughter and the dogs..... then Theatre of Hate. then Southern Death Cult / Death Cult / The Cult.
Marr knew of Duffy from their Wythenshawe days and asked him if he knew of a singer for a band he wanted to put together...... Duffy recommended Steven Patrick Morrissey from 384 Kings Road, Stretford and the rest is history
