Erling Haaland

Real will get Mbappe and Haaland? Yikes. Wish City could plan like that.

I hope that doesn't mean it's just Kane or bust for us again.

That's still the pull a club like Madrid will have over us, although I would like to hope that the paucity of La Liga might at least make Haaland think twice.

The flip side is they will become the dominant force in La Liga pretty quickly again and from a legacy and lifestyle perspective, we can't compete.

Just my opinion but I don’t see how Haaland and mbappe fit in the same team both want to be the main man (or mbappe certainly does he seems to have a really big ego) and be the focal point and both seem determined to be the best in the world, get silly numbers in terms of goals and with that accolades like ballon d’or etc

think there is too much competition between them to be in the same team personally

would mean having to play 2 up front also which is a rarity these days as not a chance mbappe will be happy on the wing feeding haaland

I'd take Kane in a heartbeat in January if Spurs would accept £100m.
he's not worth £10m on current form, Spurs should be made to beg, and then we should pay Haaland and Raiola exactly what they want to the penny, because it's worth it and given our treatment of our own supporters we can't claim the moral high ground anymore.

i really cant see any player having a release clause that activates half way through a season , i mean why would a club do that, it doesn't make one bit of sense , whoever is saying that imo is wrong, however we will see.

Nailed it. Some fud guessed it by doing sums on the back of a napkin when he noticed January will be 2 years. Makes mo sense for Dortmund to have agreed that, contradicts all previous reports on it. Not to mention how inexplicable Dortmund's bravado last summer becomes, or why no club tried harder.

I would be highly surprised if it activated on January.

Kane is absolutely worth it, you only had to see his brilliant presence of mind to try and chip the goalkeeper from the halfway line against Villa at the weekend.

He's in an average team, with an average manager, feeling let down by the board, still getting his fitness up after the Euros.

Kane would be exactly what we need, which is why Pep prioritised him over Haaland.

Kane is akin to De Bruyne at present. Form is temporary, but class is permanent.

I can only hope that City and Spurs can try and revisit it in January, because I think he remains the most realistic and obtainable top class striker we can attract.

Agreed. He’s still absolutely ruthless given a chance and in this City team, there’ll be plenty of those. He’d break scoring records in this team.

I do fear the ship has sailed, though. I think we’ll put our eggs into the Haaland basket and unless he decides straight away (Mino auction so I doubt it) then we could be left with our pants down. Again.

I’d like to think Pep has made it clear he wants a striker, though. Again.

*puts lube back in the drawer*

All the numbers join up, sadly, for Madrid, as you say.

Having had £171m rejected for Mbappe this summer, they can afford to now take him on a free, pay £70m buyout for Haaland, and use the other £100m in signing fees/wages for both.

Am I the only one who feels that Madrid has done this for the past few years, talked a big game in the media as to all the signings they were going to make and then they kind of go to the bargain shelf?

In addition, I don't know how they're going to afford both Haaland and Mbappe wage-wise, with Benzema still there, and that midfield needing to be replaced quite soon as Kroos and Modric aren't getting any younger, In addition to losing Varane and Ramos last summer.

I also can't see Mbappe or Haaland wanting to play second fiddle to one another especially Mbappe having been stuck in Neymar's shadow for the past 5 years. Especially with Mbappe wanting to play in the number 9 role, and not one the wing anymore.

They are clearing the decks for a new generation.

Varane and Ramos were big earners, Bezema, Modric and Marcelo are also in the twilight of their careers.

Ronaldo's wages have been removed for two seasons and this is still a club that thought nothing of buying Zidane and Figo!

Madrid have always been about making statements, even one that saw a diminishing Hazard join for £120m.

It's shit or bust for them next summer because if they don't try and go big, they will be dead in the water for the next decade.

Still my dream signing, but I can't see it happening. Hope I'm wrong, though. I'd bite the bullet and suck a bag of dicks if that's what it took. That's right, an entire bag. Just dick after dick. Would even cradle the balls if that's what was needed.

I'm sure he'd come here, maybe we're even at the top of his list, but I get the sense he'd be open to moving to just about any big club. And it seems like we'd have to break our wage structure, and pay Mino a ridiculous fee, to get this across the line. And I can't see the club doing that. But what the hell do I know. We'll see what happens.
