New leader of Manchester City Council

This is actually a lie. She has seventeen jobs listed on her profile, and no the others aren't all in the council. She spent time working in call centres.

Why are the far-right (@worsleyweb included) so fundamentally dishonest?

Haha! She has had 2 jobs in the real world. Tx Max and a Chippy and is now head of the council! Please list these 17 jobs? Why are the far left (Fode N The Hole) so fucking stupid?

And if she has had 17 jobs by 36 she must be great! Totally and utterly out of her depth.

Looking at her Linkedin profile, it would appear she's had numerous roles either heading up or being on the board of various local organisations related to housing, health and care. She has educational qualifications in political science and government, with further qualifications in local government management, and she has 10 years experience on the council so she should have a decent grasp of how it works. Seems she has the education and experience necessary for the role and a majority of our elected councillors also thought so. I'll give her a chance to demonstrate she knows what she's doing and can do a good job before pouring scorn on her selection because she's not spent long enough working in other jobs that are unrelated to leading a local government authority.

She hasn't, if you don't have an account on linkedin you are welcome to make one and look it up.

I'm not far-left (anarchists and communists) and I wouldn't even be classed as hard-left within the Labour party.

I'll refer you to my post in this thread and what alludes to for me calling you far right.

zzzzz - so has she had 17 jobs or not - make your mind up! Hopelessly out of her depth and a complete left wing loon. Look at her twitter. Retweeting Raynor - tells me all i need to know.

To be fair the chippy was when she was 15/16. I must remember to put “paper round” on my linked in profile.

Anyroad 17 jobs at the age of 36… what’s that a job a year? There is something wrong with that picture. Or perhaps they weren’t jobs at all… hopefully she’ll do a grand job in any case and turn out to be a very capable bureaucrat.

She has a number of experiences listed of which 2 are jobs please withdraw the lie allegation call centre role has been added since my screenshot.

Yeah the word you should have posted was "sorry", perhaps you would like me to screenshot it so you can understand the meaning.

Whilst undertaking the funded doctorate researcher role, she also carried out teaching. And you usually get paid a salary or stipend in the university students union jobs she undertook.

You could keep doubling down but it only serves as further evidence (interest in spreading fake news) of you having far right views.

I have no idea if the story you are telling about the screenshot is true or not and without access to restricted metadata or detailed individual archiving there is a no way of knowing.

You could have been viewing a linkedin page that didn't have all the data because you weren't logged in, who cares.

You made the mistake of taking someone's linkedin as their complete work history when in most cases that wouldn't be the case.

Yes I read your screenshot and have just re-read it. The heading of "background" doesn't appear on the current full version of her LinkedIn account I have read.

Could be a number of reasons for that, one is that you simply chose to screenshot that part of the account and pass it off as all the experience or you didn't have full access.

I've provided a screenshot of my own.

You won't be getting one, because you told mistruths if not intentional lies.

It’s also daft to have been under the impression linkedin has to be a complete CV., i’s not unless someone chooses to upload all of it.

I'm wondering why anyone who is educated up to PhD level at a top university in a relevant subject following a first class honours degree and a masters would be totally out of her depth leading an organisation that she's been part of for 10 years applying the knowledge she has learnt.

Yes but that's far too sensible for this gang of Alf Garnetts to understand.

Ah come on mate, you’re not seriously suggesting having a masters/PhD in a subject actually counts for shit in the real world are you? Opens doors for sure but that’s about it. But it’s one of the things that shocks me about the workplace today, our business is degree only nowadays (like many) but having a degree doesn’t help you understand the first thing about our business - you just need a brain that can join the dots (which I guess is why they say they have degree = they have brain)

Anyroad off track. As it happens (having checked out her linked in profile which isn’t like the one posted) she does have a background that doesn’t seem out of place for her new role so not entirely sure what all the fuss is about (although it’s a bit funny). Good luck to her in her new role, if she does a good job it helps Manchester.

I think you’ve answered your own point about the relevance of having a degree, and knowing more stuff about your chosen subject by getting a higher degree isn’t going to do any harm and is a demonstration to prospective employers that you should be able to operate at a high level. No guarantees but there’s more chance of a successful career in local government for someone with a PhD in politics than someone with a couple of GCSEs and 5 years experience working on a building site or in a shop, even if they are in the “real world”.

Either way she deserves to be given a chance to prove herself in the role without being dismissed as out of her depth by people who don’t know her.
