Actor with the greatest range

Robert Carlyle I've always thought was incredibly talented. Hard to believe he was in full Monty when you're watching ravenous, for example.

Although he was in the recent war of the worlds remake on the BBC in a minor role, but the series itself was tripe.
He has a range of authentic accents in many of his films. Native Glaswegian (Trainspotting), posh English (The World Is Not Enough), Sheffield (Full Monty), Mancunian (Jimmy Grimble), Scouse (51st State), etc.

Woody Harrelson must be up there from current actors, Daniel Mays from current British actors

Di Caprio for his parts in Jango and TWoWS. Absolutely top class performances and entirely different from the likes of Inception and the Revenant.

Robin Williams. From funny guy to acting out heartfelt scenes. Guy was a genius.

Denzel Washington. Can play a bad guy that scares the shit out of you to amazing performances in The Book of Eli.

Joaquin Pheonix. Always amazed at how much I hated him as Emperor in the Gladiator (Crowe had a great performance also) to absolutely mastering Jonny Cash. And his Joker performance was nothing short of perfection.

David Tennant if were looking outside Hollywood.
