It’s a good article apart from some glaring mistakes like the Abu Dhabi bit and getting some times of when players came to us the wrong way around. It shows how difficult it will be for Newcastle to get it right.

The BBC didn't comment. They showed more of the coach clip with the rag fans more visible and the old fatty was a present day Cantona, telling everybody the next programme would be on Monday. It came over as the BBC didn't give a toss for anybody else's views. A metaphoric V sign to us all.

I really think other fans get it, especially those who attend matches. The BBC is facing potential extinction because of the threat from digital streaming media. Its coverage of football on all channels has become a laughing stock because of its fixation on LFC and MUFC in an attempt to attract a big audience. But its viewing and listening figures have declined during a period when millions of people have been trapped in their homes..that takes some doing.
The BBC is just too large and needs to slim down and focus on the things it used to do very well: news analysis (without bias) and drama. So much of the content is just garbage (or repeats). Not everyone wants to watch gardening, antique, travel, and cooking shows. The biggest joke of all is the ironically-named BBC Comedy department.
 
Usual hatchet job from Herbert in the Mail. Twisting the knife feature into Amanda Staveley and Newcastle in general.

Consider my surprise, he used feature for some unnamed sources, albeit from supposedly those connected with that bastion of truth, Liverpool FC.

I particularly liked this one when Hicks and Gillett asked why she had not brought Abu Dhabi to them?

Her alleged response, according to an Anfield source: "They wanted to buy a smaller club."

Funny that, seeing as though Liverpool were later sold for less than what Sheikh Mansour paid for City and were on the verge of insolvency...

I think Rigg made a good point about players not choosing a place for its lifestyle but for football reasons. And I have heard before that City have walked away from deals simply because of concern over a player's character.
I think it is a myth from the London-based media that most players want to move to London for the nightlife. It is not the 1980s and they are professional athletes. Modern players are a different breed. It is just lazy journalism to trot out the old cliche. It is also true that the PL is a much bigger draw than our dodgy weather. The best players want to prove themselves at the highest level and that's the PL and the CL.
 
I see Klippety is not happy about John Boy being chosen by Gareth Southgate!!

Of course there is a special thing...John Boy is a very special person. But mainly what the heck has it got to do with Klippety? Which stupid so and so of a 'reporter' asked the question of the manager of a different club? If it was a question asked of Pep fair enough.
I just wish the media would all close down for a week or so and let people begin to think for themselves again!! JMHO

Haha - probably when he soon launches his foundation.

He's signed up with some woman who used to work for RocNation.

Gotta laugh when says he's off if he doesn't get more games, without any acknowledgment that he hasn't been deserving of regular start for nigh on 18 months.

He has kept the club waiting 12 months to sign a new contract offer, and yet Pep still trusted him to start the Champions League final.

I'd argue Pep rates him more highly than he rates his own chances of competing with Foden and Grealish.

Can you imagine his reaction if Liverpool had five players involved in England's last game, three of them for the full ninety minutes? The sound of grinding molars would crack Windows across the whole of Merseyside.

The fixation on the rags and them lot up the east Lancs is even worse on sky.

I read Macaris book some years ago unaware of his loss. His lad was a budding footballer and it was a very sad read.
I wish them all well and am glad that this mornings report was less about football and more about things that matter.

I'd guess it was phrased along the lines of "Joe Gomez wasn't picked for the squad because he hadn't played much, but John Stones was selected and played both games? Is that upsetting Gomez?"

I watched the Internationals and saw that ITV have a share in some FA cup matches. I wonder whether that will mean that the ridiculous BBC record of showing every single United match since Year Dot will continue. Plus those who get under the rag umbrella like Salford City and Fc United. That is the biggest fixation of all. How many smaller clubs did out of a rare TV match plus the attendant income because the BBC feels it has. to screen the rags?
As for comedy you referring to BBC Comedy as a joke made me laugh as l thought of Fleabite and Miranda as two examples of stuff that cannot raise even a faint smile.
Quite often there are debates about bias in the BBC usually about politics with convincing arguments from both sides. But the worst bias is over football. Would they ever admit that their product is heavily pitched to catch the TV equivalent of clicks from the plastic fans of the Reshirts?
