Clive Wilson. Absolutely loved him. Sign of previous times when we had to let him go. He may not have had the bad press others in this thread got, but criminally underpraised.

And an inferior player by far, but someone who - erm, knew where the goal was - Jim Melrose.

Clive Wilson was a really stylish player - arguably wasted at left-back.

Jim Melrose was largely awkward & bobbins, but he'd probably still get 25 goals playing as a centre-forward in our current team.

Darren huckerby. That 2001 season he often gets overlooked in favour of Goater,Ali,Eyal but he was immense that season but he always seemed to come in for unfair criticism.

He was slagged off by our fans every single game and was a much better player than he was given credit for.

And he drove a Nissan Micra to training while all the other players showed up in Ferraris etc. Got to love the guy for that.

He used to get a lot of stick particularly between 94-96 but I loved Keith Curle, a Rolls Royce of a player who would fit into the current era if he was around now. Distin as well was similar in style to him, a very accomplished player.

I met him a couple of years ago, what a really nice guy, and as you say a complete Blue, was great to see him score his pen at Wembley v Gillingham, I thought he was a decent player and at the time (maybe because we were shite) some fans seemed to constantly blame him - but that's been covered on another thread :)
