Spurs Thread - 2021/22

Never go full spursy before Christmas, playing your joker card so before mid-season gives then nowhere else to go.

All the posters from them on here going on about winning the Kane battle, beating an unprepared City seem to have gone to same way as Nuno and disappeared before our eyes.

Fucking hate spurs, 3rd in my league teams I despise and detest list,

Everton and Spurs appointed their managers at the same time, Spurs are higher than Everton in the table, Spurs sack their manager, Everton don't - time will tell who's right.

Don't think the FSW at Everton has too long left to be honest, they've got spurs (maybe a Conte bounce), us, dips,Arsenal & Chelsea with two difficult (ish) games against Brentford & Palace before mid December.

Where the fuck as this ‘Tottenham way’ come from all of a sudden? It’s all I’ve heard in the last 24 hours. I assume it’s something to do with winning fuck all. I really do hate these conceited, arrogant wankers.

I think it’s meant to be about trying to play attacking football. They don’t like the Mourinho style defensive football. They’ve just never got the balance right, hence the lack of trophies.

Any idea what the total prize money of the respective clubs is over that period?
If you mean TV money, as opposed to Commercial or Matchday, then it's just under £1bn, whereas Liverpool, Chelsea and United's is just over £1bn. We've got the highest at £1.15bn and Arsenal's is around £950m. So they're not disadvantaged in that respect.

The 'Tottenham way' is to try really, really hard against City and to roll over for a tummy tickle against United.

Just compiling some financial figures for a KOTK article and while I'm not a great believer in net spend as a metric, over the longer term it does paint a picture.

Of the so-called 'Big 6' over the 6 seasons to 2019/20 (when the last sets of accounts are available) our net spend has been £750m, United's around £650m, Arsenal (surprisingly) £450m with Chelsea & Liverpool around £350m.

Over the same 6-year period, Spurs' net spend has been just £2m. That's not a mistake; it's two million.

Levy shouldn't be able to show his face at WHL without a phalanx of security guarding him from furious fans. He's cheated them.

What do you expect when their income is markedly lower?

For a number of years, the plastic cockneys from Essex and Hertfordshire have used similar figures to 'prove' Levy is some god-like club chairman ("Yay, we have the most parsimonious chairman in the league. We are so lucky"). Odd fanbase.

The "Tottenham way" is one of thoughtful financial prudence by which the "net spend trophy" resides permanently at the club's ground as a result of a net spend of only £2 million over many many years. This prudence is allied to a shrewd transfer strategy known to other, jealous, clubs as the "Levy trolley dash" which often takes place in the late evening of the day the transfer window closes. This enables Spurs to field what appears to be a team of misfits but is in fact a team working towards the kind of consistency that the club's spending really deserves. I'm surprised you didn't know that.
