China is a fascist state - no longer communist in the true meaning of the word. and India is pretty much a nationalist state. Neither is capitalist in the Western meaning of the word.

"Those for whom climate change is already a matter of life and death, who can only stand by as their islands are submerged, their farmlands turned to desert, their homes battered by storms... they demanded a high level of ambition for this summit.

"And while many of us were willing to go there, that wasn't true of everybody. Sadly, that's the nature of diplomacy.

"We can lobby, we can cajole, we can encourage, but we cannot force sovereign nations to do what they do not wish to do. It's ultimately their decision to make and they must stand by it."

Radical measures will only be put into place across the world if the impacts of climate change start to threaten the lives of major population centres in leading countries.

Until New York, London, Beijing, Moscow, Mumbai, Sydney etc. etc. all have an immediate serious threat to life, the measures will be measly.

Either the world leaders present aren’t as concerned as they’re making out or they’re absolutely useless, because even those on board with this new deal are lacking anything significant enough.

All these holier than thou attitude pontificating all the developing nations should stop using the cheapest fuel available to them while US and Europe keep burning the oil and keep their economies humming with hummers is getting a bit old and clear to all across the Globe.
Pay up for all the environmental degradation done by US and Europe over the last two centuries and the Environment will be fixed.

Good point but do you think the money would actually get to the projects that needed it or siphoned off as graft to corrupt officials and politicians?

There’s a bigger picture, mate, where we, UK citizens, outsource all our manufacturing to the places you mention. We basically ask these countries to take all of our Climate Bill but then laud it over them for not sticking to our principles.

If natural gas is subsidized to be cheaper than coal then why would the consumer pick coal. It can be done if there is funding and real willingness to pay up. Right now it is just about blame game and media propaganda.
