Everton (H) - Post-Match Thread

Wow ! We were so good today. Really good control of the game, lots of effort, desire and at time some brilliant football to enjoy.
Kyle Walker and Rodri were immense today - looked like both of them were masters of their art. Cancelo is a remarkable footballer - the assist for the first was a peach. Sterling playing on the right looked sharper and hungrier than he has done for ages. Great to see him get his goal which he took so well. Bernardo - usual mix of hard work and great ball retention and intelligence. Stones and Laporte both excellent. Kept it simple and formed good triangles with Rodri.
Foden - had some lovely touches and looked a threat before having to depart early. Palmer -grew into the game even whilst playing much of the game as the false 9 which can't be his favourite position. Not afraid to shoot either - something I like to see and it lead to the third goal. Gundogan - did virtually everything efficiently and intelligently.
Ederson - good handling on crosses and corners. Reassuring presence.
Mahrez - a bit up and down but decent enough.
McAtee - another debut for an acamdemy graduate.
That rocket from Rodri was a beautiful strike.
Pep sounded full of beans post match which is great to see and hear.

Nice to read such a positive post.

Really enjoyed today’s match. Great performances all round and two high quality goals against a team that weren’t shit but were totally outplayed. Good to see Sterling take one of his chances, and he took it really well. McAtee’s cameo was really impressive. If that’s typical of his play he’s going to be one hell of a player. No help at all from the ref - will be interesting to see some of those incidents on TV.

Great win and great 3 points from the lads.
Was good to see Palmer start..he looked a little overawed at first but grew into the game and did very well.
Cancello was very good and that pass to Raz was fantastic.
Rod was immense and that goal was reminiscent of Vinnie's v Leicester..
Bernie never stops running and is class.
Stones looks excellent and the rest of the players were very good too.
Nice to see McAtee get some game time..

This is not a Grealish bashing post but we appeared more fluent with Foden on the left , Jack does slow the game down in comparison , i think we need to use Grealish more centrally his clever use of the ball and ability to win free kicks will be more dangerous to the opposition in the middle of the park , but who do you leave out ?
True but I thought the plan was to acclimatise Grealish to the City way. Maybe next season to play more inside in the KDB and Gundo roles.

You're right about Sterling, it's all in his head. Sports Psyche needed.

its a puzzle that he does it (panic) when he's got time to think.maybe its also the pressure of knowing your going to get canned if you miss. it reminds me of shaun goater going up the divisions with city ? he become a better player when he had less time to think with the better the teams city played

it must be a nightmare for pep and the city coaches because i think he's done all he can to help sterling but when he crosses the white line its up to sterling himself. i also think pep dropped him to make sterling fight and get angry thinking that may help in getting a reaction in the game like (i will show you)

but we love sterling and if its part of the make up then so be it ? what he's done for manchester city and football in general is great. also we have to remember he is not a striker and pep style of the false is not really ideal. but he gets on with it and won 3 titles and so many cups that we should respect him more

Think Grealish is being acclimatised into the Kyle walker way of things at City!

When I saw the line up I was a bit worried! But my oh my, we didn't look like we missed KDB at all! We didn't even start Jesus or Mahrez

Palmer looked like he was playing for us since gazillion years

cole palmer is going to be a star if he keeps is feet on the ground
has the look of a young glenn hoddle the way he runs and plays the ball
