Watford (A) - Post-Match Thread

Opposing centre backs haven't a rashers who to pick up. Of the outfield 10, we wouldn't expect goals from the centre backs, Walker and dare I say it, Rodri but all else are well capable. May take us a few more chances than it might with an out and out number 9 but over the 90, the way we're playing it'll be hard for anyone to beat us & if they do, they won't deserve it!

I wasn't convinced on Kane. His record is great and he looks like he'll pass Shearer but how good a fit would he be to our style of play? For the fee it'd take, his selling price in 3-4 years wouldn't be worth it.

Its getting annoying hearing pundits harp on every week about our need for a striker. Now we're top and with the run of games we have, that talk might cool. Press on lads and make top spot our own. Was annoyed Liverpool dug it out earlier but not a bad day after all. Mendy had been so reliable for Chelsea. The wobbler he had today he might not shake for a while
I was the same as you, a bit gutted initially about Liverpool but our performance sorted me right out. And let's put it this way, Chelsea and Liverpool will not be looking forward to the idea of chasing us down one bit. Their game against one another could come at a perfect time as well.

If wolves had have clung on to a point it would have been a superb weekend... instead it's just been a very good weekend... I can handle that

Starting to worry about goal difference in December and chasing goals because of that is the quickest way to making silly decisions that will ultimately cost us imo. Win the game you are playing, focus on the next one, keep playing our game, don't think beyond that and let's see where we are in the spring.
Sounds like Guardiola.

Ahhhhh ... the latest thing the sheep say.... City are boring

Anybody who says that is either bitter as fuck or knows fuck all about football

Funny that you've never heard a 'pundit'... even the most anti City ones... say it EVER
I know it’s pathetic isn’t it.
Rags are worst of the lot, but if Pep were ever to become their manager (never gonna happen lol) there wouldn’t be enough tissue paper in the world!

Great performance, great result, disappointing scoreline. Fluke of a goal but no clean sheet again and to only add 2 to the goal difference when we should genuinely have score 4 or 5 within 10 minutes is slightly disappointing. Almost everybody back now, more players coming into good form, looking in good nick as we get into our grove. Keep them rolling and challenge Chelsea and the dippers to keep up if they can.
I remember the days when getting an away draw was a top result, now I actually feel disappointed we only won 3-1 away. Amazing how expectations at City have changed. Fantastic init?

Watching that match made me remember how much I dislike Danny Rose. Forgot he was still playing top class football.
Still.at least he followed Kyle walker out of spurs and got his dream transfer away from the Lane..

We were very close to signing him the year before we signed walker. But, reminds me of a typical british self entitled football player.

Given the possession we had, and how Watford only had 4 or 5 touches of the ball before we scored in the 4th minute, here are some interesting stats:

Brentford have applied the most pressures in the Premier League this season (3,968), while Manchester City have applied the fewest (2,694). However, we know that opportunities to pressure their opponents will vary between teams depending on how long they have the ball for.

Another way to frame these numbers is to look at where these pressures are applied. By splitting the pitch into three thirds, we now see a much more predictable pattern emerge with the teams. Manchester City apply a higher proportion of their pressures in the final third than any other team in the Premier League (29%). This is 11.8% above the league average (in absolute terms). This shows that when they do pressure the opposition, Pep Guardiola’s team often do so in advanced areas of the pitch.

Things that make you go…”Hmmm…!”

Redknapp was drooling over us

All the media can go on about is us needing a striker.
Why? Are we not entertaining enough?? We control games and score goals. Yes we spunk away chance after chance which infuriated me, but the movement and ball speed is mesmerising.
So many are insistent we must have a striker, if we were to get one, and go on to wallop teams 6 or 7 every game, would this shut the media up, of course not, they’ll find something else to try and pick a fault with.
We are doing well, look at who we have already played and made them look ‘not all that’.

I must admit there are times when I think...ffs City do something interesting, it eventually happens but they go about it in a tried and trusted ' keep it in the fridge manner '..it works, it's just very regimented, relentless so to speak.

My thinking exactly. If we did put our chances away we'd be winning by cricket scores every week and that just doesn't happen in football for some reason.
