RB Leipzig (A) - Post-match Thread

No idea what Pep was thinking picking that side, he should have let the kids have a go with the passion and energy they would have injected.. The ref was appalling yet again but im just not getting the mentality of that starting 11 selection and not giving the young bench any meaningful minutes at all…

Walker is a dickhead but no way a Leipzig player is getting a red for that .. Poor night, on to the Wolves game now, this game was a fuckin stinker on every level ..
 
Zinchenko was very good tonight.. completely disappointed from Grealish... I would like to see the young lads taking time ,Walker made the mistake of the season, I hope this would cost just a little in next round....
 
I just don’t see how Pep can moan about fixtures and fatigue and not allocate minutes to academy players. He did the same with Foden I guess but it just feels like a wasted opportunity to strengthen the path between academy and first team as well as a confidence boost for younger players. Some of whom contractually need to see this path.
 
...That was "eh" I guess.

We played it like a game we didn't care about and it showed, plus the "rustiness" and age of some players really showed.

I would have liked to see Palmer get more minutes and for McAtee to come on, but that really isn't anything new with Pep. All I'll end about that is we have no right in being upset when youth leave when Pep does this. He did it previous seasons as well, so it is what it is.
 
It was to be expected half of player still out of form and need match fitness after injury. Can't be arsed about the result.

Onto next match.
 
Poor performance with a strong line up but it was all a bit half arsed. Ref was that bad he made the premier league refs look good. One or two of the players looked completely out of sorts and I’m hoping Foden hasn’t picked up another injury because he didn’t look right.
 
Pretty flabbergasted and disappointed with the selection tonight ahead of the busy Festive period….understand the likes of Grealish, Fernie, Zinchenko and De Bruyne being selected but surely Cole Palmer and McAtee could have gotten some proper game time…..where is the incentive or encouragement for the younger players.

The result doesn’t matter however the Walker sending off will obviously cost us.

Pep is a genius…..but sometimes acts like the mad professor!

What's the point that's being made here? Both our yellow cards were given after play had stopped for presumably arguing with the ref, so take those away as they weren't a result of a foul and any anti-City narrative you want to spin is instantly flipped on its head.
 
Not the end of the world. They needed a performance we didn’t. In a busy period this game was almost an inconvenience.
I don’t get why some of the youngsters didn’t get to play. But Pep has been brilliant for us so I will have trust him on this call.
