RB Leipzig (A) - Post-match Thread

All Ifs, Buts, Coulds & Shoulds.

I think most looked at that starting 11 and thought Wow that's strong let's win the game then bring off our best players, Well Pep did i guess. Doesn't always work out and it went pear shaped.

Strangest thing I kept reading on the Match thread was never a Red. I mean do people watch the same fuckin game?

what it shows tonight is the spine of our team is key to city going forward and winning champions league
B.silva Dias laporte ederson cancelo rodri all rested and rightly so in a meaningless game

the officials was at it again tonight and somebody wanted the germans in the europe league
the referee over played it to a point it become funny and i don't blame walker for losing it

What was the point in that? If you’re gonna treat the game like a training session, then why not give some more senior players a proper rest (Gundogan and Walker being the obvious candidates) and incentivise a couple of youngsters. If I’m McAtee watching that I’m not signing a contract in a hurry.
Other than that, and the dead rubber aspect duly acknowledged, it was a carbon copy of the Palace game. Grealish cutting inside into traffic all night, Mahrez doing the same, Sterling deployed through the middle with no service and all 3 of them continually offside. Ferna and Gunders in lead lined 19th century diver’s boots. Bag of shite

I'd rather have the 3 points at the weekend.
Same. If you'd offered me a win and a defeat in our next two games at 4:30 this afternoon, I'd have the win next Saturday lunchtime, thanks. The game tonight meant nothing. But there's no getting away from the fact that it was a mediocre performance. Ah well, onwards and upwards

That was never a red, the proof is in the yellow card offence that kept Jesus from travelling.

If anyone does not see the way we are refereed compared to other teams then they should take up another sport.

very disappointing.

The most disappointing thing wasn't the players lack of commitment , or the wank referee or even the suspension of Walker.

It was the fact we didn't get to see the youth in a game that would have meant something to them.

Shite performance, shite ref, shite pitch and shite atmosphere. One of those days.

Palmer and McAtee should have come on for at least half an hour but other than that, no real complaints of Pep. Not his fault that Walker is a dickhead and will almost certainly miss 3 games now.

Doesn't matter - a nothing game.

Several things about the game though - the ref and his team were a disgrace, in fact his reluctance to punish any one of their team led to frustrations and ultimately Walker losing his marbles. Our players were booked for taking a free kick quickly, asking for a pen and yet they had several players who committed six or seven fouls without punishment. And, don't get me started on the stonewall pen missed.

Ferna God bless him is in the last stages of a wonderful career, we look so vulnerable from simple punts down the middle without Rodri and his passing was too slow.

Ake needs to work on his headed clearances, every one went straight to them and a bad one led to losing possession for the first goal. He still doesn't convince me at all.

Pep should have introduced the kids at halftime - clear to see some were going through the motions and it would have been nice given we want the best of our academy to sign long deals at the moment. Not smart in my book.

Glad we don't have to see them again - in both games they have thrown themselves about adding screams when touched and seem a horrid bunch.

As I say though a nothing game, at least we got mins in Kev's engine.

Onto the next and just glad we gave Bernardo and Rodri a break.

Poor stuff. Over/under hit long balls. Constantly offside. Hitting first man. Walker sees his arse. Zach the only decent game.
A few of our players are desperate to find form, DeB, Grealish and to a lesser extent Foden. Was delighted to see them in the starting lineup, but they were so poor, which was the biggest dissapointment of all.

Zinchenko was very good tonight.. completely disappointed from Grealish... I would like to see the young lads taking time ,Walker made the mistake of the season, I hope this would cost just a little in next round....
A game of opinions eh.

I thought Zinchenko was his usual negative shit with an odd moment of positivity. Grealish did okay considering no fucker was creating any space whatsoever when we attacked.

Starting XI was absolutely ridiculous. Walker, Gundogan, Foden and Grealish should have been nowhere near that side.
I am still not convinced of Greallish potential.

Obviously he will get time to adapt to our play.

But seriously wtf does he do ?

Everything he does feels lazy and half arsed, like when he licks the Ball from 5 yards out

I feel like he has signed for us, and thinks "i have made the Big time".

I am not reading about his football in the papers, but who he shagged last week, who he is shagging this week, his personal life, and Love Island.

Well that was a shit waste of time.

Silly from Walker though, could do with him in the next round.

No injuries hopefully.

Now fucking play properly against Wolves!
