COVID Data Thread

That is how they justified my relative being killed by Covid via a test she had recovered from just within 28 days = Covid killed her even if it most likely here did not. She died with it not of it. Possibly party because of it. But not the main reason. I suspect many cases are like that.

the death certificate has to have it listed as main cause for it to register on there.

I don’t doubt there will be some miss classified but it’s by far the most accurate data we have as it’s actually the doctor classifying cause of death.

Unless they do a full autopsy on everyone you can’t get better data.

Simple question, or is it?

What % of the UK population have now had covid since we first started testing for it?

I’m wondering how near/far away we are from the mythical “herd immunity”?

edit - just found the answer; seems to be about 11 million cases in total (likely more in reality, factoring in cases before we started testing and further asymptomatic cases).

its ok to take these areas off your updates now Heald. Thankyou though.

NORTH WEST NUMBERS

4919 UP 252 on yesterday & UP 1212 from last week's 3707 - biggest NW weekly rise in a long time for second day on the run.

NW probably had the worst numbers pro rata today. As Zoe predicted earlier once again.

GREATER MANCHESTER NUMBERS

2017 - UP 298 when the NW is UP by just 252 - so a pretty bad result for GM going up by more than the entire region.

AND

Week to week GM is UP 632 from 1385 - which is the biggest weekly rise in many months in the county. And over 50% of the 1212 NW rise which again is above expectation.

GM is a major factor in the big North West weeky increase.

Ahain most boroughs up week to week. Many by quite a lot again But even more so than yesterday.

After a big jump over 100 yesterday Manchester was up even more - 149 in one go - today.

Stockport, whilst on one of its highest scores in months is only up a much more modest 23 week to wafter topping a 100 rise yesterday. Still not a great day here either. Its highest Pop Score in weeks.

Again just as Zoe predicted.

However, Trafford is way up top now in Manchester once again after recovering - I suspect Omicron has arrived perhaps via Trafford Centre Christmas shopping? It is up a giant 147 - doubling week to week to 295 a massive case number for here. Indeed its Pop Score today was the first in GM over 100 in a few weeks since Trafford was last sky high a few weeks back.

Nobody was down week to week and Stockport was third lowest rise today. Only Bury (up 3) and Bolton (up 6) were better.

Trafford lost another 39 to Stockport as a result they trail by 628 now! BUT this is not the race for lowest Pop Score in GM any more. Bolton is doing far better than Stockport right now and is quickly sneaking up on them. Still 413 behind - but that is a huge 45 points back in one go and if these respective numbers carrty on like this Bolton will have the lowest Pop Score in GM for the first tme by Christmas.

before it - is Indeed heading again for the worst scores in the county after both had got things under control in past week or two and now lost it again. Manchester is not doing great but 100 cases there is much less damaging than in Stockport as the population numbers in Manchester are much higher.

i am sorry but I can’t get my head round why anyone will care or why it is necessary to say

“Trafford lost another 39 to Stockport as a result they trail by 628 now!” (With an explanation mark thrown in?)

it’s not wacky races??? Maybe just me but just read that line and sometimes think I must live on another planet??

Feel free to carry on of course it’s a free world but just my observation.

You made the mistake though mate of reading that particular post!

I only check for the headline figure of cases and deaths and skip the rest.

Well, why read the updates if you’re not interested?

it can’t be doing Heald place any good this.
How can you possibly know that? You have no idea what my life is like. Or why I find doing this helpful to my day. Because if I did not find it helps me then I would not be doing it. Simple.

The guesses as to why I do it are usually negatively framed ones. But I do have my own positive reasons that I have no intention of posting openly as they involve other people.

There are other strands to my life. Though largely retired I still do other things away from here and am regularly asked to write a new book on subjects miles removed from Covid. Right now I am not ready to do that. But when I am then I probably will and disappear.

But right now this helps more. In the meantime trying to nudge me off here will not work. More likely to do the reverse. I am not as mentally fragile as you might imagine.

I appreciate you may have had the best of motives. And if so then I thank you for the concern.

But I assure you I would not post if it was not helping me by doing so. I have been through a lot of things worse than posting numbers about a pandemic.

I just know that - for me - having the facts rather than being told what I should choose to believe by others - can bring peace. So me not posting here would not mean me not watching the numbers - just not posting them. So I will stop doing this on my own terms or if Ric asks me to do so. Or the thread is closed. Not by psychoanalysis about my motives.

I certainly prefer knowing the facts to sticking my fingers in my ears and hoping when I take them out again that annoying buzzing noise has gone away. Because I tried that and it doesn't just vanish because you want it to do.

Life is like that sometimes. Perhaps it is age bringing wisdom or dotage bringing foolishness.

But I do see that whilst it might be what works best for me that different methods might work best for others.

I am fine with that You do you. I can only do me.
