I did exchange PMs with him a few times as I sometimes felt he got a bit of a raw deal sometimes and as mentioned above by others, I wondered about his mental state. He was too much of an arsehole on the way out though. Seemed to pick details from people's posts and use them spitefully, made some out of order comments to Worsley for example.
