F1 Season 2021

Would be such a shame if they’ve done that as that was a brilliant spell of racing

That would never have materialised in the first case because Perez would not have been competitive in the first tow.

A lot of people keep suggesting that this happened and that happened, but the reality is that none of it happens in sport if the rules are applied and people don't cheat.

It's like yesterday in the game with reports City got lucky because Wolves had a man sent off.

How is that lucky, at what stage are people seeing in to the future to determine City would need this to achieve a lucky result?

just put Kimi in charge next season

Crofty "AND THEY'VE CRASHED!!!"
Team radio to the FIA "Kimi, they clearly went 3 inches over the white line and braked 0.2mm later than the previous lap! What are you going to do?"
Kimi "ahh...fuck it...mumbling Finnish...yes, yes...ice cream and champagne...quickly!"

Formula 1 is currently trying to woo Audi and Porsche into the sport and having serious discussions and you'd think both of those would have a few reservations about investing billions and billions only to have Michael Masi ignore the rulebook and decide things on his own.

Also talk of Merc not continuing after the next generation and they'll be thinking the same thing. £400m invested in this season only to be cheaper out of it at the end.

if true the 2nd car was under weight red bull have not a leg to stand on and should be kicked out of the race
forget the couple of mistakes by the FIA on rules the major one would be red bull being kicked out or the race

this is not going away to say they can brush it under carpet and move on with a question mark
its so so a BIG call and we are talking titles and record books being re-written with lewis champion for the 8th time

Where is this Perez under weight story coming from?

Take your red tinted specs off then
These kind of comments add no value to the discussion. This thread is interesting and many people are making good points. Yes, there is partisanship but by enlarge it is a grown up and well behaved discussion. If you disagree with the point being made, feel free to make your point based on your own observations, but please don't reduce the thread to name calling.

Where are people seeing that Red Bull potentially ran Perez's car underweight?

And also is it really that big of a deal if Verstappens car went marginally ahead for the briefest moment when he got back into line once the green flag was shown? Hamilton was practically stopped at points around the hotel section.

Verstappen didn’t need to be anywhere near being ahead of Hamilton behind the safety car. He‘s not allowed to overtake and if he’s penalised for it, he can have few complaints.

Lewis has the right to dictate the speed of the pack on the restart, and rules are rule no overtaking under SC conditions it’s quite simple.

Are you allowed to go infront of the car infront whilst there is a saftey car, and if not what is the penalty, I'm not a huge fan or hater of either driver btw

Didn't see the race, only followed the final couple of laps and the result. I've got huge respect for Hamilton, but I'm not really all that invested in F1, truth be told.
I don't really understand the technicality involving lapped cars here. Could somebody who genuinely has no axe to grind — somebody who is neither a Hamilton supporter nor a Verstappen supporter — give me a clear-eyed assessment of whether the FIA have clearly broken rules of practice that have been observed in the past?

it about the racing line and coming out of corners to get a good start
but if the rule say you can not jump ahead of a car under a safety it means NOT ALLOWED
