Super immunity apparently. Even better than a booster. I've gone down this same route and in all likelihood I won't get the booster now. Just don't see the point.

You should get the booster. It's an hour out of your day and any chance to strengthen your resistance is worth it in the long run. There's not enough information on this yet to make any claims on immunity, instead it's easier just to get the jab in case the data goes the other way.

Remember that the jab isn't just about reducing sickness, it's also about reducing transmissibility.

Back to can the NHS cope or not?

It’s not for the public to be locked down or restricted every year because the NHS might not cope mate.

If I’m boring you, my apologies but I’m afraid you will just have to ignore me because I won’t keep quiet just to suit you.

Nobody knows for sure if the NHS will cope or not. That’s the gamble Boris has taken. Tougher restrictions might not change the possibilities that much anyway. The NHS has to cope to a degree anyway (by definition) as an emergency service.

You keep fantasising about these non-existent lockdowns. I must have imagined that I’ve been at 3 Premier League football matches, in various pubs and gatherings with friends and family in the last 10 days.

I don’t think we can discount cases fully just yet. The company I work for is heavily involved in the vaccine rollout and there is a huge impact when the r rate is allowed to stay so high in terms of numbers off in a very short period of time.

Cutting the isolation period I think was a good move. The other thing Id be considering now is whether pcr tests are worth it, could save a shedload of money that could go into proper sick pay for when people do need to isolate.

It’s the kind of detail those wanting to lockdown society should have and they should be open with that detail to the public.

pretty much all of that is tracked and the data freely available.

as for cases, until omicron it was a known that x number of cases resulted in y number of hospitalisations so we could act accordingly in advance. Omicron has absolutely thrown that into disarray for now.

I've had x2 AZ and x1 Pfizer and that'll probably be it for me unless there is a more efficacious modified vaccine vs Omicron. However, Delta is still dominant in many areas so at the moment it's perhaps silly not to get boosted. The vaccines are very effective vs Delta and Delta can cause severe illness for anyone not protected.

If Omicron becomes dominant or a second less severe variant appears then a fourth booster perhaps is not required for most people, especially for those who are under 40 and not vulnerable.

Can anyone tell me what happens if you are admitted to hospital WITH COVID but not for COVID? I keep reading that it’s still an issue for the NHS, and I understand that. If you are admitted after a stroke/heart attack etc and test positive, where do they put you?

Hospitals are now configured into Red/Green sections. Red for patients with Covid, Green without. Wards are combined to some degree with specialist doctors assigned to combined wards in Green/Red sections.
Staff take in house PCR tests on a near daily basis.

I can't for at least a month anyway. Almost certain at that point the landscape would have changed again. I'll see what the lay of the land is by then. I had a really bad reaction to the second jab so I'm in no rush personally.

Sorry, just saw loads of studies discussing it recently online. Worth a Google. One of the first things I've found with a quick search. Give that (admittedly tacky) 'super immunity' thing a search. Plenty to read.

South Africa have the right idea and finally people are opening their eyes and mouths here to the fact that the number of infections are not the main factor with this one at the moment. That’s despite the media’s best attempts to put the fear of God into people and mention high numbers as their headline at every opportunity.
