**** if true
The thing is, Spain isn’t the pinnacle of football it once was, Barcelona are begging for scraps from City’s table, and Real Madrid aren’t the team they used to be. Everyone knows The Prem is the best league in the world, the best football is played here, the best managers are here.
unless it’s the lifestyle he wants, then I could understand, England isn’t the attraction it once was due to the political and economic climate being a massive clusterfuck.
in Spain he can sport his flamboyant fashion sense in the sunshine, & the Spanish Gov aren't ignoring the Covid pandemic by doing FA and letting it run rampant through the country

Im sure probably you judging by your comment here and plenty of other people had the exact same view when Sergio Aguero or David Silva joined, that they'd only be here a year or two maybe three but you know what they absolutely loved it here... Don't underestimate our clubs ability to get any big star they want and then sway their head to stay long-term.
Sergio could've spat his dummy out after 3 years and said he wanted to join Barcelona and they'd defo have chosen him over Luis Suarez, everyone knows Real always courted Aguero too but he stayed because why the hell wouldn't he? We're the future he saw that as did David Silva too.

Players who join us can't seem to get enough of being here and the atmosphere the feeling that something special is happening it's irresistible, it's easy to see why with the club's long-term plan too you only have to look at CFG and the academy everything the club aspires to be, you're too defeatest in thinking any player Real or Barca want will just jump ship at the click of a finger... They've got everything they could possibly want right here, when Aguero or Silva arrived I guarantee they both probably thought it'd be a dream to play for either Barca or Real in just a few years like what you're saying with Haaland, yet after a couple years they didn't wanna be anywhere else but right here and that's because we're the dogs bollox.

With what we're building here you'd have to be an absolute moron not to wanna be a part of a project like ours, yeah it's true a handful of big teams will always have that allure but I don't think you understand that we're actually one of those teams already, once players come here they don't move on to those other teams unless they get homesick because they honestly know how good they've got it here as a package.
Very true what you say but things can change quickly, we must hope that Pep signs another extension and our success continues.

Any top player would want to be a part of our current set up, our issue is when Pep decides to move on.

He's not going to be wearing blue. We need to move on sooner than later. If he were ours we'd know it, I've heard alot of folks here and there not guessing saying that he's definitely not coming this way. We are so used to writing cheques to get who we want, we need to look elsewhere because mark it, unless something huge changes... Haalywood isn't City bound.
Nice get out.

There is a big attitude difference between Aguero or David Silva and haaland that you are overlooking. haaland seems like the kind of guy who is more worried about his PR rather than his contribution to the team and that is why Aguero or David Silva were different. they were consummate professionals.

No, we wouldn’t, if he came to us, and if he really only intended to stay a few years and move on, the most likely is he stays for his contract and moves for nothing. Unless we could persuade him to extend.

Says who?

He means as part of a champion league winning Manchester City side vs Spanish opposition.

Or he is about to have a beach kick about.

Mind you with those jim jams do we want him?
If he comes to City, I can see the cardboard signs “Erling please can I have your pyjamas”.

I’ve already got got mine done (good way of recycling Christmas cardboard).

;-)

Says nobody thats why I said IF. However if his intention were to stay a few years and move on, and nobody knows, moving for nothing is more likely than him moving for a £200 mill profit.

I think you have taken the point raised to extremes. Which in itself was probably a bit exaggerated to begin with, but is still fairlt valid though.

Sure won't be a profit of 200m (which nobody other than you said btw) or perhaps even 130m or whatever was said. Although that isnt actually as unlikely at all. But if he did sign, it would be on a 5 or 6 year contract, because thats what the club do. And if he wanted to leave in 2 or 3, someone would have to buy him out, and it would be for a lot more than the 65m we'd be signing hin for now. The way the market is going, and the way his progress as a player is going, it would almost certainly be a significant profit to get him earlier than his contract allows.

And if he saw it through to the end and then left for free, it would be tremendous value for money and a fantastic return on the investment.

This comment belongs in the politics sub forum.

What a pile of shite.

its simple I don't want anyone here who does not see a long term future at the club. Even if Haaland comes here and in a year say if Real wants to replace Benzema and give him a call do you think he will stay here? no he will want to jump ship in no time. We don't need those kind of players here. I would rather take someone one step below but who is more committed.
Likkle City syndrome.
