TV Series

Afterlife - I’ve always been a massive gervais fan but I seem to be int the minority that think ls this is abysmally written. It’s so contrived. The whole things seems to be split in to monologues. I mean who actually talks like that old woman on the bench. The sentimental scenes are too heavy handed and completely ruins it for me. You get the odd funny moments, but I genuinely don’t understand the popularity of this.

gone are the days of the office and extras which were true genius
Although the bit with the Postman was good when he asked "can I use your bathroom"

Half hour later RG goes up to check and he's having a full on bubble bath:-)

I've never been interested in watching TV due to playing as much sport as i could but now father time has caught up with me and I've started to watch the box, and I've just finished watching Afterlife 1&2 and Derek and i got absolutely hooked, so im going to watch the Office this weekend - im already wishing my life away!!

Wow! You’ve saved the best - the very best - til last.

Over the last two weeks I've re-watched both series of The Office on iPlayer

It really is excellent - so much so that I've started watching it all over again!!

Gervais/Steven Merchant nailed it with the characters and the script

Might go back to Banshee, been a couple of years. What a fucking series!! Think I might have been one of only a couple who had it in the soppy hammers top 20 list last year, or the year before that? Fucked if I know what day it is anymore! :-)

I’m taking the plunge on Banshee after all the big thumbs up from our resident BM Barry Normans - don’t let me down guys!
Honestly mate, and I’ve said this on here before, I binge watched most of it whilst I was busy decorating, I genuinely wish I’d have given it my full attention because it absolutely deserved that at least.

Finished afterlife, for once I'm glad it was just the 6 short episodes and I'm glad he's finished it there, really nothing else to add to the show.

Some of the side characters were great, and by far the best thing about it, Brian is particulary brilliant but the main character and "story" was just dull after the first series.

Yep, I voted it 9th in my all time top 20 TV shows.

Banshee.

I enjoyed Afterlife.

Yes,the 3rd series was a bit forced and of a lesser standard as a result, but it was still brilliant and full of emotion - i suspect much of that appeal was the way in which many people could relate to it in part,or even as a whole.

I was a bit late to the fan club....but Gervais is genuinely brilliant.
I'm just half way through the 1st series and am enjoying it myself, I've realised since starting it that I've never watched a Ricky Gervais series or film before either. Not sure how I've managed that TBH.
