Coronavirus (2022) thread

not everyone got the financial help

One thing that's very clear is that societies that controlled the virus better also had less economic damage. Saying there's a balance between the two is a false dichotomy.

It's also true that societies (eg Denmark) with the best social welfare systems controlled the virus better.

The UK objectively did badly in both control of the virus *and* economic fallout.

This is a key point - parroting "protect the vulnerable" is meaningless. It can't be done. You can't segregate vulnerable people from a community that supports them for weeks on end. It's a fantasy.
millions of peopled got paid for being off work when they could have worked so that money could have been used and the vulnerable got help anyway.

Sorry, I'm not sure if you're talking about vulnerable to virus or vulnerable to financial damage here.

And I don't know which groups were paid not to work when they could have either.

So I'm thoroughly confused. It's not unusual.

its clear everybody will not agree with everything that has happened over the last 2 years but when all the figures are looked at over the next few years then lessons can be learned for when it ever happens in the future .
