I think this puts it well.

Rather than celebrate getting back to an old normal which can never exist, we should instead forward and aim for a new normal.

That can be better than the old normal and reduce the risk of covid returning as a major problem, but only if we deliberately make the right choices rather than closing our eyes and hoping it's gone away.

Of course you’re a fan of that miserable paranoid nutcase.

Six people in my block got a cough they can't shift. Lead to loads of UTIs and liver infections. Kids. Infirm people. Pregnant girl. Newborn.

Yeah but let's just not worry about health ever again.

I suppose the point is, this stuff will cost, if nothing else, many missed days, extra health care. A bit of care and caution and good manners is how we save this country money going forward.

well you keep burying your head in the sand thicko! just ignore the untreated deaths such as cancer heart disease not to mention suicides because of lockdown! now who is the selfish thick bastard?
There were no more suicides during lockdowns than any normal time. Total myth that there were

This thread is literally identical to how it was a year ago, just a little quieter. Healdplace posting numbers, then the same few on either side of HP's posts calling each other irrational/naive or doom mongers. It's that on repeat every single week.

It was a great deal better when you were asking 12 questions an hour when you tested positive.

only last year lol! the true figure should be over the last 2 years ! if you are happy to say they are the same so be it .
Last year was 6 weeks ago. The figures came out for 2020 suicides in Autumn 2021 so we won’t be getting 2021’s until late this year.

But we’ve barely had any restrictions at all for the last 11 months so I don’t see how lockdowns would have any impact because we’ve not been in any lockdowns. The data that is there from when we did have a lockdown show that there was no rise in suicides. It’s just a lazy myth that people have been using because there were no figures to back them up so it was easy for them to use it, as soon as figures came out it proved them wrong.
