TV Series

Book of Power IV: Force - ep1 has already set its stall out, first 10min - graphic sex scene, graphic lesbian sex scene and plenty of violence and quips. The return of Tommy E has never been so much fun! Best character in the whole Power franchise. New guilty pleasure, just a shame its one a week.

Couple of notes - Im watching via...ahem alternative means so cant give you a platform to watch per se.
And any fans of Lili Simmons from Banshee is gonna love this. That Doris has no problem get her kit off. Fantastic er...performer...

Is power an action/thriller show?

I'm just gutted we never got see much of 'Tommy E's' knock off, 'Lakeisha' who got bumped off in the original 'Power' series.

What a goddess, she was!!
 
Watched the first episode of wheel of time. Not done the books but will have to invest in a few more episodes before passing judgement.

I haven't watched it yet and haven't read the books. I was a bit put off by the negative reviews and found other stuff to watch.

Bit of a tangent, but I remember from the books thread that you were a fan of Magician. Did you see that the first three books (along with the three books "Empire" co-wirtten by Fiest and Janny Wurts) have been optioned for TV?

I'm sure that this will make a great series (although I haven't read the Janny Wurts books). Now if only somebody would option Scott Lynch or Joe Abercrombie's books .......

Yes very excited about that news. Watching the wheel of time first episode and it’s very American in its production which I fear will be the case with Magician.

Fingers crossed they do it justice as it will make for a fabulous series.

Man, I'd be really pissed off if they fuck up with Magician. One of the greatest fantasy books of all time. Im not sure this is the climate to make it, with the sanitised PC sensitivity churned out by Disney. I really hope an HBO type company is doing it and not giving into new age politics. Keep it fully in fantasy and keep it within the world of Midkemia and the Riftwar. It does not need to reflect anything going on now, this should be pure epic escapism.

I think a lot of the negativity of the show comes from those who have read the books. The changes made to fit it in to an 8 episode series changed things around quite a bit so it's always going to upset fans of the books. Taken on its own merits then it's not a bad show but also not a great one either unfortunately. Hopefully it improves for the next season.
