Sporting CP (A) - Post-Match Thread

The plane bringing the team home only landed at Liverpool airport a couple of hours ago having to be diverted due to high winds. Bet that was a fun flight home.
Just landed at Stansted at the second attempt

first attempt abandoned due to high winds

It was like being on a roller coaster !!!

For windy landings try Leeds. On the top of a hill exposed to Pennine blasts. Best experienced in the "flying wardrobe," manufactured by Shorts in Belfast, a square fuselage on the Dublin run. Often came in sideways.

As someone who hates flying I'd just be glad to have landed anywhere in the UK ! Must have been a bit turbulent at 38,000 feet.
Think it’s ok at that height. It’s the last 10-15 mins that are the worst as it comes down to land. Mate just landed at Manc and said it was very bumpy and not a nice experience

I get the impression he isn’t the brightest bulb on the Christmas Tree and fuck alone knows what got into his head in Leipzig, but agree he is a leader in that dressing room and the group really looks up to him.
An amazing signing that, don’t forget, we were roundly mocked for in pretty much all the media at the time.
Who knew that full backs were important and worth investing in?
I’ll tell you who.
A certain Senor Josep Guardiola.
Now they are fundamental and among the most expensive players in the world. And so the narrative changes.

So Liverpool do a Poundland Pep copy, albeit bypassing their woeful, agricultural midfield and basically hoofing to the corners and then overloading. But they belatedly realise full backs are actually important.

So much so they make them fundamental. Their midfield is so shite they have no choice

Full backs are now central to football and of course The Cult have “de best in de weeeerld”

Media: “Genius Klopp redefines full-backs”
Laughable
Klopp is B-tech uniform services at Edge Hill. Fair fucks, he is trying. But come on

Pep is post-doctorate research in astronomical science at Harvard.

5-D shit v B-tech
There are Levels to this game
I find your take about Klopp either incredibly biased or wildly off the mark.

Pep is an absolute genius but so is Klopp in his own way. What he did with the dippers and Dortmund, is nothing short of fantastic, with a comparatively smaller budget, and if it wasn't for Pep he'd have three league titles more. He improved every single player there and makes the ordinary ones look like world beaters. He won a CL and the league with that agricultural midfield.

Now we ca discuss about their style of play (which I personally don't particularly like) but it's then a matter of opinion.

Just been a bit sick in my mouth reading that, la.

Because it read like it was written by John Aldridge.
Maybe, but facts are facts. I absolutely love Pep and personally consider him as the greatest manager of all time but I certainly won't take a dump on Klopp just because I can't stand the scousers (or the rags for that matter).

Meh! You’re not doing it right then! :-)

Well your facts definitely aren't facts!

Which are the 3 leagues he would have won without Pep? Obviously the one where we pipped them by a point. The one where they finished 3rd, nope? The ones where they finished 4th? nope.

And professional footballers can't exactly choose to consume lots of alcohol to numb the effects of being buffeted around and calm the nerves either !
Think this would have been one occasion to fly home last night straight after the game and skip the warm down session in Portugal to avoid storm Dudley.

What the fuck would we have done for the hour we were stuck in the ground if to not cheer the goals during the warm down?
Delap blazing over and us singing ‘what the fucking hell was that’ was a particular highlight! :-)

You could add this season but you're right, it's one more league. My point still stands though, no one can deny what he achieved there or how he improved the players under his wing. Man City and Liverpool are the best run clubs in league, with the two best managers in the world.
