Russian invasion of Ukraine

You don't think the threat level is high?
Biden is in lock step with Johnson as to the threat Level. 5 eyes intelligence briefings are being published as Russia actually orders things to be done before they happen. I don't think it will stop Putin from invading. Indeed, I expect it to happen a day or so after the Winter Olympics finishes.
Yep.
Looks to me like it's going to happen. No troop withdrawals and skirmishes near the Russian occupied areas instigated by Russia and blamed on Ukraine as a pretext to invade.
Hope those that are adamant that it won't happen are correct but I fear for the worst.

Actually there’s a good documentary on bbc iplayer somewhere that explains that scenario

Or maybe we should look at how Russia behaves with regard to the former Russian states. Constant political meddling of the worst kind, poising democratic leaders and backing right wing authoritarian arseholes. Invading them unprovoked and making demands that they dont do things that have nothing to do with Russia.

Yes the US did that in the 60's with Cuba / Vietnam. But that was 70 years ago.
Point taken but not sure about your maths.

This is defo happening. He turned the screw and got nothing. He can't back down now without looking like a Boris. Nordstrom 2 off so it's gna hit the Russians very hard in the pocket. They will strike a deal with China, but it won't be on the same level. Crazy logistics getting the gas to China too one would imagine.

Massively. The Russian economy has already been struggling for a while, but after this, if the West get it right, we can cripple them. They are dependent on exporting oil and gas, they have very little variety in their economy other than that. It’s a bloody shame the West can’t ditch all ties to them through this tomorrow but we can cripple them long term.

I'd rather the west had helped them out in the 90s with the fall of the iron curtain. That created a lot of anti-west feeling in Russia and I think that's why their people buy into Putins anti-west stance over the years - That and a lot of propaganda.

But I dont see the point in crippling them or defeating like we did with germany

America meddles in central and south american politics on a regular basis, set ups coups, assasination attempts and funds street protests.

And not just decades ago but in the present.

All superpowers meddle in smaller nations.

Russia, china, the US all are at it

Even if they invade Ukraine?

Good job that he can trust China, they’ve always had such a great relationship

It's not.

US has some new toys they want to try out in the battlefield. If you look closely there's a pattern with recession and them going to war. Looking more hawkish by the day.

CNN rating are down as well hence their full on war stance gaslighting the nation. Yet they have the gall to call RT out for propoganda.
They aren’t in fucking recession. In actual fact their economy is running too hot which is the complete fucking opposite.

Also this fella knows a fair amount about the situation, but he doesn’t just automatically wank off Putin and hate the US:

You seem hell bent on defending Russia actions and pinning this all on the US. Maybe you just want to hold a contrarian position to bring another viewpoint to the conversation - which isn’t a bad thing.

Anyroad to suggest this is all because the US wants to use some new toys is fanciful - let’s just examine the facts; The build up of 130k+ troops on the Ukrainian border is, according to the Russian, military exercises. But the international norm is to announce these months in advance, you know, to prevent any troop/equipment movement being seen as aggressive/ unexpected. In November last year the Russians had massed best part of 100k troops, it wasn’t until December they spoke about any sort of military exercise with Belarus - which they couldn’t give any dates on other than sometime in February - a rather hastily arranged excuse / smoke screen some might say.

To look at recent Russian behaviour- In 2020 they made last minute and significant changes to pre-planned military exercises that they didn’t notify the west about but they went to significant lengths to reassure NATO that they were benign and planned. But the critical point is they were at least pre-planned, weren’t in contentious regions and the west took Russian reassurances at face value. On the flip side of this - if they were with malice intent they might have made more effort to conceal these latest deployments.

Only Putin knows what he is thinking.
A-fucking-men.

It’s literally bonkers to say it’s the USA’s fault that Russia have stuck 350k troops on its neighbours doorstep. A neighbour to which it’s already annexed a huge area of land and a neighbour to which Putin wrote a 7,000 word essay last year on its history and how it should be ruled by whoever rules Russia.

But yeah, it’s CNN and Biden..,

Want to avoid whatever CNN are saying? It’s easy, don’t watch them. They don’t create policy. They certainly don’t make Putin mobilise his army.

Just like how they demonized the Syrians living in the rebel-held areas when their invasion was about to start.
